Texas Alpha had a great fall with tons of socials, academics, and brotherly living—and everyone survived! The house received some much-needed improvements: a brand new gate in front emblazoned with Texas Alpha and a refurbished floor in the gym (disco parties are hell on concrete). We once again have a spring class with over 40 seniors leading the way. The chapter has more than 180 members with a cumulative GPA of 3.22. Pretty remarkable given that the actives don't miss a beat in all other aspects of UT life. As alumni, we once again get to know a new set of officers: same men, just different names. It's always amazing to me how once the officers get (Continued on page 4) " " " " " " " Active Members Benefit from Financial Assistance of Skull & Crossbones "I'm extremely honored to receive the first John K. Tyler Balanced Man Scholarship. This achievement has helped my family with financial tuition for my education. I can't thank Mr. Tyler and the SigEp community enough for the support and guidance over my college days. I hope to carry the values this fraternity has taught me throughout my life." -Dean Butler '15 "I'm very proud and humbled to have received this scholarship and to represent SigEp. We put a lot of hard work into SigEp but I feel like it all comes back around. It isn't just about the numerical: my takeaways from SigEp go much further—I've made some of my best friends, networked with professionals, and gotten real-world experience serving on the executive council. I believe this scholarship embodies the chapter as a whole in saying we are committed to hard work and putting in the extra mile to ensure that we are a strong presence on campus." -Kyle Echerd '15 "I was thankful to be recognized by the chapter and receive the Thomas O. Hicks Scholarship Award. The surprise of being selected reminded me how much Texas Alpha has done for me personally and reinforced my desire to give back whatever I could. As president of the chapter now, I hope I can make these opportunities available to undergraduates long after I've graduated." -Kyle Mason '16 "The scholarship was extremely helpful and beneficial to me. I used part of the funds to help pay for my dues last fall. I used the other portion of the scholarship to help fund my current semester abroad in Italy studying at Università Bocconi in Milan. I am grateful for the scholarship and I look forward to helping other Texas Alphas when I become a member of the alumni network." -Joey Reynolds '16
