Rottenberg is part of a Southern Oregon team that is also ranked No. 1 in the nation to start the season. Rottenberg wrestled for two years at Shasta College and earned All-America hon- ors in 2009. He is majoring in healthy and physical education. Youth Basketball Around town It's time again for Corner- stone Youth Basketball sign- ups. Sign-ups will take place at the following times and loca- tions: • Saturday, Nov. 5 at Red Bluff High School Main Gym Lobby from noon to 2 p.m. - • Monday, Nov. 7 at Red Bluff High School Main Gym Lobby from 5 to 7 p.m. - •Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Red Bluff High School Main Gym Lobby from 5 to 7 p.m. - Players may also sign-up at Cornerstone Community Bank any weekday until Nov. 18. The basketball league is for girls and boys in first through sixth grades. There is a $50 fee, which includes a basketball. Player evaluations will be Sunday Nov. 20 at the Red Bluff High School Fieldhouse from 2 to 5 p.m. For more information, con- tact Angie Miller at 514-2712. Lacrosse clinic Lacrosse season is almost here, and registration is open. This year Red Bluff Youth Lacrosse is planning to field Five teams (Boys JV, Girls High School, Co-ed U15, Co- ed U13, and Co-ed U11) In preparation for the upcoming season, there will be a lacrosse clinic at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at Berrendos Middle School, 401 Chestnut Ave. The clinic will be free and open to boys and girls of all ages. Returning players that attend should bring all of their equipment and we will have equipment for those that need it. All that are interested in playing this year, registration is now open and registration will be available at the clinic. Cattle Days The Red Bluff Junior Round-Up is again holding their annual Cattle Days on Sunday, Nov. 27. Cattle Days will again be held at the Fairgrounds in Red Bluff. This is an example of life before X-Box and video games, when families enjoyed working and spending time together. This event is a fundraiser to help the Red Bluff Junior Round-Up contin- ue to support the western her- itage of our area. This is the 16th year for Cattle Days which is ear- marked as a "Family Event" and they continue to offer events for all ages. Age groups are 5-and-under, 6-10, 11-13, 14-19 and 20-and-over. Entries close on November 15th, or entries may enter on the day of with a $25 penalty. All event entries are $20 each and $60 for the team events. Entries will be available at redbluffjuniorroundup.com. Ryan Hassel The Spartans rushing game racked up 332 yards in a win against Oroville and the offen- sive line deserves plenty of credit. Hassel anchored the line at cen- ter and on defense the senior recorded 13 tack- les and forced a fumble. ALAMEDA (AP) — The Oak- land Raiders signed wide receiver T.J. Powers wins Club Championship Tournament Special to the DN The Wilcox Oaks Women's Golf Association held its annual Club Championship Tournament over the weekend and this year the highly antici- pated match held up to all expectations with a dra- matic finish. Monica Powers was being challenged by three- time past champion Daina Cowan. Powers chipped in No. 16 to tie the match. Both women then made par on No. 17. With the championship coming down to the last hole, Powers made par on No. 18 to win the tour- nament. It was an entertaining dual between two great golfers to crown a new champion. In the other championship flights, Diane Angelich won the first flight, Deanna Williams took honors in the second flight and Patti Walker won the third flight.
