Deployed U.S. service men and women will receive an early Christmas present from the
community in the coming weeks. Operation Holiday Cheer, a program of Fayetteville
Cares, fi lled more than 10,000 care packages to send to Fort Bragg's deployed troops.
This past week, thousands of volunteers including soldiers gathered to pack the boxes
and get them on their way. Joann Chavonne, who organized Fayetteville Cares, said the
response was overwhelming.Photos (clockwise) Students involved in the Beaver Dam
Baptist Church youth group help stack boxes. The staff of Taco Bell fed the volunteers,
serving more than 1,500 tacos and burritos. The soldiers of the 3-4 ADAR take a break
before they beginning their shit on the packing line. Marcikay and Logan Cornwall help
pack boxes, one of which will go to their deployed family member — he's on his fi fth
deployment. Volunteers put notes in the boxes.

Harvest Train Itinerary: A caravan of cars,
buses, and vans will form a parade at 9:00 that will end at the
J.A. Culbreth Auditorium where a program will be presented by
the kids at 11:00. Lunch will follow the program on the campus
of Falcon Childrens Home.
