I am working through the tasks that adult children do when their par- ents pass away; cleaning, moving and dealing with her estate. Part of my experience with her death has been inheriting family heirlooms that are now being handed to the fourth gener- ation. Among the treasures are price- less pieces of furniture. My family and I are about to move. In this process, my family's furniture has become a new and welcome part of the decorating plan. In anticipation of moving into our new home, I brought my newly inherited furniture to my current home to clean and get ready for a new life with my family. Among the pieces is a beautiful dining table with two captain's chairs and four side chairs. They are in dire need of rehabilitation and I have been fanta- sizing about how beautiful they will look when recovered, but had no idea where to find someone to take on the task of rebuilding the seats and cover- ing them. Last week I was unloading my truck when I was introduced to Patri- cia Busey. I have lived on my street for nearly two-and-a-half years and have never seen Patricia and her dog pass by. On this particular day, she walked by and noticed my wooden chair sol- diers and mentioned they were beautiful and she would love to get her hands on them as she recovered furniture. Now, you all know I am a lover of how God works in our lives and I certainly know a divine intervention when I see one. Turns out I had no idea how amazing Patricia would turn out to be. Over the course of two Patricia is a beacon of customer service. Her enthusiasm for my project made me feel valuable and excited about the project. Her interest in getting the job done well and quickly impresses me. Be like Patricia, cheerlead your customers through their time with you. Get behind every transaction as though it were for your family too. Whether you sell a days Patricia's lovely person- ality and ability unfolded before me. A woman I never knew became a new friend as she shared her expertise and her wisdom of all things recovering with me. As I sit here typ- ing, I am awed by her enthusiasm for her work, her willingness to listen and offer suggestions. What I appreciate most about Patricia is her ability to see my excitement for these pieces and to get on my level and get excited with me. Most of all she made my joy a pri- ority. She has my chairs at her shop now and they are being brought back to life in time for my move to my new home.
