Library To Host 3rd Annual Storytelling Festival Oct. 28-29 C umberland County Public Library & Information Center has received a $4,175 matching project support grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County in support of the 3rd annual Cumberland County Storytelling Festival. Stories and music by The Parsons kick off this free, family event CUMBERLAND I during Fourth Friday activities on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. The festival continues Saturday with arts and crafts in the children's area and Madubani Art workshops in the children's story room. Storytelling is presented throughout the afternoon in the Pate Room. The lineup of storytellers includes The Parsons, with storytelling and songs; Macias Patterson and Ana Lucia Divins of Criss Cross Mangosauce with bilingual storytelling and music; and African culture storytelling and music from The Healing Force. The Healing Force is made up of husband and wife team Joseph and Gail Anderson and their children Sonji and Karim. Veterans Services To Host Town Hall Meeting Nov. 5 n celebration of Veterans Day, Cumberland County Veterans Services is hosting a town hall meeting at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5 in the Pate Room of Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. There will be an overview of Department of Veterans Affairs ben- - tions, post-traumatic stress disorder and Pension with Aid & Attendance. Pension with Aid & Attendance is for veterans over age 65 or veterans who are permanently and totally disabled. The program is based on income and the disability does not have to be service-related. - tions. Trick-Or-Treat Hours Set For Halloween the Fayetteville Police Department and Fort Bragg have announced a "trick- or-treat" volunteer curfew for Halloween 2011. Ghosts and goblins are encouraged to conduct their quest for treats from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Due to safety concerns, we ask that trick-or-treaters voluntarily honor the curfew request. One-Stop Voting Starts Oct. 20 One-stop early voting for the Nov. 8 election starts Oct. 20 at the Children enjoy a performance at a past Storytelling Festival at the Headquarters Library. Children of all ages can enjoy the event. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The election is for all municipalities, the Eastover Sanitary District and the Gray's Creek Water & Sewer District bond referendum.
