Trio Voronezh's aston- ishing virtuosity and delightful artistic innova- tion gives the trio the abil- ity to alter the way audi- ences experience classi- cal, folk and contempo- rary repertoire. Discovered playing Bach in a Frankfurt, Ger- many subway station, Trio Voronezh has since made several tours of the US and earned audience and critical praise. Admission is free. Murdach's work investigates the cyclical motion of history. His paintings and drawings look at current and future states of society and question whether we may be retracing our steps by neglecting our history and repeat- ing past mistakes. Chamber concerts to feature North State Symphony Also on the program are extensive sonatas by Johannes Brahms and Mau- rice Ravel. Brahms is con- sidered a pillar of 19th cen- tury music, blending deeply felt emotion with traditional forms that he inherited form his composer predecessors. The Chico concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Rowland-Taylor Recital Hall on the CSU, Chico campus. Two of the most cherished French Romantic works will be featured in the opening concert of the Shasta Symphony Orchestra's 2011-2012 season. The spectacular Symphony No. 3 by Camille Saint- Saens, nicknamed "The Organ Symphony" is a lush and emotional work of timeless beauty and great sub- tlety. In contrast to this, the final two movements of Sym- phonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz will get the audi- ence ready for Halloween by evoking the images and sounds of a riot, an execution, and an afterlife torment- ed by regret and the curses of a betrayed love. Rounding out the concert will be a concerto that col- lectively features four orchestra members, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertant in E flat. Tickets for all events in the Shasta College Theatre are available in the Theatre Box Office one hour before performance time. Doors will open for seating 30 min- utes before the event begins.
