The 1987 Red Bluff Lady Spartans state champion girls basketball team will be the fea- tured guests. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a tri-tip dinner at 6:30 p.m. and danc- ing in front of the live band Northern Heat will start at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. Tickets are $30 if bought in advance or $40 at the door. Pre-sale tickets can be pur- chased from Red Bluff Spar- tans athletes. It was Red Bluff's fourth consecutive victory over an Eastern Athletic League — South foe as the Lady Spartans have taken a stranglehold upon the league title. All four victories, played in Red Bluff, have been 3-0 sweeps. However this one was much tighter than the usual 3-0 win. The Lady Spartans trailed in every game. Their biggest deficit came in Game 1, when they trailed by eight points, before rallying back to win 27-25. Paradise held a lead as late as 21-19 in Game 2, before the Spartans again came back helped out by Lady Bobcats errors down the stretch. Paradise leapt out to a 6-1 lead in Game 3. Red Bluff couldn't string together consecutive points until Megan McColpin took over service with the score 12-6. She fired in an ace and then Jessica Macdon- ald made a strong play at the net to close the gap to 12-9. After a Paradise sideout, Riley Kittle got back-to-back kill shots and Johnson added one of her own to close within 13-12. The Bobcats pushed away to 20-15, before a service error gave the Lady Spartans a sideout. Riley Kittle got in another kill to make it 20- 17. After swapping sideouts, it was McColpin's time to serve again for Red Bluff and like the first rotation around it proved to be the perfect recipe for Red Bluff success. The Lady Spartans went from trailing 21-18 to winning the final game 25-21 all with McColpin pumping in serve after serve.
