The @ttic North Carolina
by MARCY CHIKOWORE
Poetry nights are becoming increasingly popular across the country. Spoken
word artists are being showcased locally and nationally as the latest trend grows in
popularity. You can now experience the best in the business every third Thursday
when Fort Bragg's Sports USA presents The @ttic.
The @ttic is a social experience
featuring poets from around the
country. The event, which was cre-
ated by Beny Blaq Entertainment,
LLC (BBE), originated in
Washington, D.C. After captivating
audiences with spoken word perfor-
mances for that past two years, BBE
has expanded its renowned event to
North Carolina! The @ttic N.C. is
held very third Thursday at Sports
USA on Fort Bragg. Come experi-
ence the perfect club alternative event to mix and mingle, networking, and enjoy an
interactive environment incorporating monthly themes and charitable giving. Each
show features a talented host, the hottest spoken word artists and a DJ spinning the
best of classic Hip Hop and R&B setting the vibe for the evening.
The @ttic enlists a greater appreciation for the spoken word. The event has
featured artists who have displayed their talents before millions on Russell Simmons:
HBO's Def Poetry Jam, BET's Lyrical Café, and other major television outlets.
Lemon, Roger Bonair-Agard, Steve Connell and Sekou (tha misfit), Sunni Patterson,
and Asia, are only a few of the phenomenal talents who have graced The @ttic's
stage. To date, The @ttic N.C. has welcomed talented artists such as Asia and 13th
of Nazareth.
The @ttic is held the third Thursday of every month in Bill's Corner of Sports
USA on Fort Bragg. The doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m.
A free buffet is available from 7-8 p.m. The cover charge for The @ttic is $10. The
November show will take place on Thursday, November 19.
