CORNING CHAMBER Bu si ne ss d ec or at in g co nt es t wi nn er c ho se n Wow what a year. I'm so thankful for ev- erything that took place this past year with the chamber. We added 28 new members. Darlene Koontz com- pleted her chairwoman duties in June, handing off to Kristen Gray. Kris- ten has run with strategy, working together with our new board for great cham- ber momentum to con- tinue. We conducted 18 rib- bon cuttings and have seen our Ambassador program grow and make even more impact throughout our business community. The chamber continued all of our normal events such as Good Morning, Red Bluff and special Business After Hours mixers. We will continue with several new events that were extremely exciting; BEAM, our Business Expo and Mixer in February, the Cowboy Golf Tournament in April — both of which were sold out. The cham- ber took on the Crawdad Festival in partnership with Rolling Hills Casino; it was an amazing success and will do it again this March. We promoted more than 235 community events that assist local business and organization, many of which bring in visitors to our area. The phone calls, office visits, emails, website hits and Facebook presence all have contin- ued to increase. We sent out more than 700 visitor information and reloca- tion packets and 6,000 cal- endars of events this year. Our parades and farm- ers markets were amazing and continue to grow. We have increased our part- nership with regional and state wide chambers and tourism organizations for greater effectiveness to promote our city and county. Our chamber din- ner in September was a wonderful event filled with awards and fun. We ended the year with a Ugly Sweater Christmas Mixer that brought in dozens of toys for the CHiPs for Kids toy drive and lots of dollars donated to give to needy children through Jessie Woods and Christ- mas for a Cause. So much more happened throughout the year that I am unable to fit in my col- umn this month — so I in- vite you to visit our web- site and Facebook page for more information. Our desire is to con- tinue to encourage busi- ness, tourism and the lo- cal economy not with just "busyness" but strategic effort to strengthen and grow our local economy. Thank you all for being a member of the cham- ber, volunteering and sup- porting us throughout the years. More than 4,000 hours were logged in by volunteers to the cham- ber through events and daily chamber promotion of our area this past year alone. Congratulations vol- unteers, we couldn't do it without you and here's hoping 2015 will be a great year of moving forward. Be in compliance for 2015 Employ ment law changes are coming for for 2015.
