Alumni Update Chapter Eternal James F. Anthony '57 passed on to Chapter Eternal on February 19, 2012. He was vice president of Alabama Alpha Chapter in 1956, and was known for his love of practical jokes. He played on the fraternity intramural football team, which won the intramural championship for three consecutive years. James married Marilyn Monette in 1957, and together had three children and six grandchildren. His first job was with Daniel Construction in Birmingham later joining Miller Gorrie in 1957 in the founding of Brasfield and Gorrie General Contractors. Ray T. Kitchens '48 passed on to Chapter Eternal in May 2005. He is survived by his wife, Laurie, of 54 years, two daughters, Carla and Gage, and his granddaughter, Audrey. Alumni News Ralph E. James '58 sold his home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, after living there for 15 years during the summer. He says, "Living in the mountains was most enjoyable!" He now lives in Los Alamos, Calif., full time. Last year, Ralph and his grandson attended the BCS national championship game at the Rose Bowl to see Auburn play. He also attended the BCS championship in 2011, and was in school during the 1957 season and attended most games. His AU Tigers subscription keeps him updated on Auburn athletics. Ralph says SigEp has a very positive influence in his life. "I met my wife of 55 years at an IFC meeting in 1958. Two of my best lifelong friends were made in Alabama Alpha," he reminisces. "I entered the fraternity as a Tennessee farm boy and left as something different—with a significant boost in self-esteem. Being president of the fraternity in 1958 was a special honor and something I am still very proud of 56 years later."
