Roadwork to be delayed The Tehama County Public Works Department announced due to impending inclement weather road work planned for South Avenue from Sacra- mento River to the Corning city limits has been delayed. Bill Boone Boosters award 8 scholarships to Red Bluff area grads The Antelope Berrendos Booster Club has awarded eight scholar- ships to local Red Bluff High School 2011 graduates. Each of the recipients of the Antelope Community Scholarship received various amounts to be used toward their college expenses. Jozie Bill was awarded $500 and plans to attend Shasta College to study pre-med before transferring to UC Davis. She is the daughter of Joe and Deneise Bill. Stevie Boone was also awarded $500 and will attend American River Junior College. She plans to go into the field of nursing. She is the daughter of Daniel and Kayleen Boone. AnnaMaria Boullion was award- ed $500 and plans to go to Shasta College and major in psychology. She is the daughter of Thomas and Boullion Brunello Geiger Martinson O'Coy Sharon Boullion. Megan Brunello was awarded $750 and will attend the University of Portland. Her intended major is nursing. She is the daughter of Steve and Toni Brunello. John Geiger was also awarded $750 and is attending the Universal Technical Institute in Sacramento. He plans to study automotive and diesel technology. He is the son of Michael and Diana Geiger. Justin Martinson was awarded $500 and will attend Sacramento State University. He plans to enter the field of physical therapy. He is the son of John and Darlene Mar- tinson. Joshua O'Coy was awarded $250 and is attending the Universal Technical Institute and is studying diesel mechanics. He is the son of Charles and Barbara O'Coy. Poppleton Jessica Poppleton was awarded $250 and plans to attend Shasta College. Her intended field of study is Kinesiology. She is the daughter of Les Poppleton Jr. Each of the recipients graduated from Berrendos Middle School and was a student in the Antelope School District for at least five years. They were chosen amongst their peers due to their success and hard work throughout high school. The Antelope Berrendos Booster Club supports this scholarship with donations and funds raised within the community at their annual Bas- ket Auction held each spring in conjunction with the district's open house. Fair Fun with Farm Bureau, 4-H and FFA Courtesy photo Kirkwood's SERRF program geared up for the Tehama District Fair Sept. 23 with a visit from Tehama County Farm Bureau Director Kari Dodd and her volunteer Liz Mendenhall, former Beef Ambassador of Tehama County. The students enjoyed a fair themed scavenger hunt that included items representing different parts of the fair. The afternoon included a session with the 4-H and FFA representatives and a lesson in calf roping. Pictured is Jordan Hughes practicing her roping skills. Woman's Voice Scares Burglars Away The sound of a young woman's voice probably pre- vented burglars entering the residece of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Conner at 337 Jackson Street about midnight last night. The noise of someone stumbling over chairs left on the veranda of the house attracted the attention of Miss Lyma O'Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor. The though of thieves prompter her to call to her brother, who was sleeping in another part of the house. The burglars paused in their movements. The Grange will have hot dogs, doughnuts, coffee and drinks for sale. Proceeds will go for repairs and to upgrade the building and items in side. The Westside Grange meetings are on the third Thursday of each month at 4 p.m.. Anyone who is interested is welcome to come to the meetings.
