Lady Spartans golf program goes from nonexistent five years ago to Northern Section champions during the 2014 season ByRichGreene rgreene@redbluffdailynews.com @richgreenenews on Twitter RED BLUFF The Red Bluff Lady Spartans golf team is the 2014 Daily News Fall Team of the Year. It's a team that just five years ago didn't exist. But on Nov. 3, the Lady Spartans captured the Northern Section championship with a spectacular performance at Table Mountain Golf Course in Oroville. The day not only brought a banner for the Red Bluff gymnasium, but an individual ti- tle for Sofia Frantz, who shot a career-best round of 83 to win the Northern Sec- tion title. Frantz's twin sis- ter, Summer Frantz, shot an 89 to earn All-Section honors herself. Red Bluff coach Elena Tomasetti said one of the keys to this year's success was the Frantz twins dedication to golf. In their freshman and sophomore years they played golf and volleyball, but decided the past two seasons to focus solely on golf.
