One that every- one who has a heart from writing should experience. Now you can. I am writing a book and you can con- tribute extreme value to the content. A few years ago, I started my own publishing company- Al- pine River Press and it al- lows me to be very creative with publishing. You see, about a year ago, I wrote a column called A Letter of Hope To A Wounded Soul. The col- umn was a big inspiration to Salisbury High School's REACH program and they asked me to come and do a Q&A session with them. That led to my work- ing with the students to write a book based on the column. Students from REACH all wrote their own letters and we have created an amazing book of hope to people who are hurting and need to know they are not alone. We opened the proj- ect up on social media and have had an amaz- ing response; submissions have come in from all over America. We want you to be a part of our project. It is easy to contribute and I would love to see as many local people that want to, be published authors. I will be making myself available at the new Star- buck's location Wednesday at 7 p.m. to answer ques- tions and give out info about contributing. There is no cost to you, only your desire to help others. If you have a story to tell about overcoming chaos, abuse or some other form of disaster, come and be a part of our team. Being an author has opened up many doors for me. It will certainly be wonderful for you, your friends and your family to download a book you helped create. We will have a launch party in February when the book is live and use social media to share our book launch fun! No one has your story, but lots of people can be in- spired by it. I had no idea how impactful one column was until I had a classroom full of kids tell me that my story resonated with the lives they are currently liv- ing. Because of that story, millions of people will be encouraged by the Letters to Wounded Souls book. We have stories about sur- viving all sorts of abuse, women who raised chil- dren they had when they were teens, families who lost children tragically, un- expected death and more. What is amazing about the stories is that they are all hope-based. Each letter is written in a manner that shares what the author dis- covered in their pain, what miracles happened and how far they have come. It is really quite remarkable. Think you can't write? Don't worry, my team can help you get your thoughts on paper and tell your story in a meaningful way. You have nothing to lose. Meet me at Starbuck's this Wednesday at 7 p.m. for de- tails. MINERAL The public is urged to participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count in the Mineral area. For more than 100 years people of all ages interested in birds have taken to the field during the holiday sea- son to count birds in and around their communities as part of the annual Christ- mas Bird Count. Coordinated and spon- sored by the National Audu- bon Society, this year marks the 115 annual count; this is the 24th annual Min- eral count. Mineral is one of more than 2,000 bird counts across the nation. Count ob- servations are compiled at the end of the count and submitted to a national da- tabase. The count will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 17. Par- ticipants can join in for the full day, half a day or just a few hours. Counters should meet in Mineral at the Las- sen Volcanic National Park headquarters in the lobby of the administration building at 8 a.m. The bird count is open to everyone in the community and surrounding areas. No prior experience is needed as participants will be teamed up with someone who has birding experience. This is a great way to get out and en- joy the birds of the area. All help is welcome. Participants should bring a day pack with snacks and water. If you wish to partic- ipate for the full day, bring a lunch as well. Bring binoc- ulars if you have them, hat, gloves and wear sturdy walk- ing shoes or boots. Call Steve Zachary at 530 595-6132 or Mike Magnuson at 530 595-6184 with any questions.
