In fact, USA's president recently referred to it as "summer TV viewing" in an- nouncing not only its pickup for a Season 7, but also for a Season 8. Each will consist of eight episodes. Q : I was sorry to hear about the recent death of Carol Ann Susi, who played Wolowitz's nev- er-seen mother on "The Big Bang Theory." Intended to be a one-year "social experiment," the show barely eked out two months before it was can- celed. When it aired three times its first week, the ratings indicated it might be in for a rough road, which proved true when it went to its regu- lar twice-a-week schedule ... which soon became a once-a-week sched- ule. At that point, the writing was on whatever walls the participants had managed to build. The Eric Dane-starring TNT series has been renewed for a second season, and since the first one began last June, its sophomore round probably will begin in the same time frame. Get- ting a renewal from TNT is not the easiest proposition these days, since "Dallas," "Franklin & Bash" and "Perception" all have been given their termination notices lately.
