Marilyn Moss Hatcher '46 passed away on April 22 from ovarian cancer. Marilyn taught at Garfield Junior High School in Albuquerque, N.M., for 20 years. During summers in the World War II years, she had a job assembling B24 fuel tanks. She was an avid reader, was a great conversationalist, followed politics, and loved traveling. Gloria Denton Brooks '57 passed away on June 11 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Joan Myhren Hughes '59 passed away on February 8 at the age of 73. She was a spirited, generous, and adventurous woman who was deeply devoted to her family, friends, and neighbors. She was the loyal friend behind the scenes for anyone who was sick or in need. She had a saucy sense of humor and a way of making people feel special and supported. Joan also had a talent for organizing fun events, and she especially enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with friends and family walking, hiking, and camping. She loved the arts, especially theater. She had a flair for style and an exquisite taste in décor. Rhonda Joekel Sharp '84 entered Chapter Eternal on May 15. After a short elementary teaching career in Lincoln, she became a stay- at-home mom for her three sons. When her youngest son, Evan, became ill with terminal brain cancer in 2010, she devoted herself to his care including spending the summer of 2010 in Colorado for specialized treatment for Evan. After Evan's passing in 2011, Rhonda devoted countless hours fundraising for various pediatric cancer causes, including the Jack Hoffman Foundation. Alumnae News Detta Rohn Carlson '35 lives in Sun City, Ariz., with her husband, Conrad. She took her 14th cruise to Alaska in July. E-mail: mcm226@att.net Jane Jones Davis '47 resides in Bozeman, Mont. She co-facilitates, with her son, Noah, a class for court-ordered men convicted of family/partner abuse on a weekly basis. She also still has three guest bedrooms with incredible mountain views and would love to have guests. Jane doesn't cook much, but the kitchen is always open if you do. She can close her eyes and remember so many events—rush week, pledge day, pledge mom revealing, Derby Days, Monday night meetings, Homecoming week, and the list goes on and on. Through good times and sad times, her sisters were always with her and for her. She will hold those times forever in her heart. She and her husband, Mark, reside in Fremont, Neb.
