UndergradUates ContinUe strong LegaCy Members Committed to Scholarship and Philanthropy A s my term as president winds down, I have been able to reflect on not only the past year but also my past three as a Gamma Phi Beta. I have found some of my best friends, become involved with several campus groups, and grown as a woman because of this organization. It is incredible to think that Pi Chapter has been providing these very same experiences for the past 100 years. The entire chapter is incredibly honored and extremely excited to have played a role in celebrating our sisterhood and tradition for our centennial. CHAPTER SUCCESSES In addition to preparing for the centennial celebration, Pi Chapter has had quite the semester. We started the year by welcoming 47 new members to our sisterhood. Thank you to everyone who helped create a successful recruitment, whether it was through volunteering your time, writing a reference letter, or attending mock recruitment. Pi Chapter once again earned the top GPA on campus with a 3.58! Members continue to gain scholarships and campus-wide recognition for their incredible academic achievements. PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS The women of Pi continue to commit our time to volunteering around the Lincoln community. Many sisters volunteer for Girls on the Run, Relay for Life, St. Elizabeth's, Dance Marathon, and many other organizations. Our annual fall philanthropy, Do It Sober, was on November 24. This year, we again partnered with Sigma Alpha Epsilon to spread awareness about drunk driving in remembrance of our sister, Laura Cockson '96. Mike Smith spoke to students about high-risk behaviors at the event and our philanthropy chairman did a fantastic job of spreading the word around campus and gaining sponsors. SOCIAL EVENTS Our social calendar has seen several fun events this semester. Our first dance of the year was themed Wedding Party and was co-hosted with Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. We enjoyed dancing the night away to all of our favorite wedding reception songs, and the seniors loved dressing in vintage bridesmaid dresses for the night. We recently held Dads Day at the Del Ray and learned the rumba and salsa. Despite most of us having two left feet, it was a great event full of laughter! One of our favorite days of the year, Mom/Dot Reveal, was on November 2. Our families all grew a little bigger, and we look forward to making many more memories together. We will be finishing off the semester with our winter formal on December 5. I am so proud to be a member of Pi Chapter and thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our sisterhood!
