The 1987 Red Bluff Lady Spartans state champion girls basketball team will be the fea- tured guests. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a tri-tip dinner at 6:30 p.m. and danc- ing in front of the live band Northern Heat will start at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. She has helped Corning to a strong start in league play, OAKLAND (AP) — The Oak- land Athletics have reached agreement on a three-year con- tract to keep Bob Melvin as their permanent manager, two people with knowledge of the negotia- tions told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Melvin is expected to formally receive his new deal in the com- ing days, both people said, speak- ing on condition of anonymity to The AP because there had been no announcement by the team. The Rebels used their sixth come from behind win and fifth walk-off victory of the season to get the job done. Kyle Martin pitched five innings. allowing just two hits against Humboldt in Saturday's opener. Still the Rebels were down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Robby Lasby got the comeback started with a double. Cole MacLachlan followed with a hit and Chuy Ramirez hit the game-win- ning RBI. Ramirez also picked up the win on the mound. Lasby and Tyler Boone each had a sin- gle and a double. Jaime Gonzalez went 2- for-2 with a pair of walks and CJ Somavia also doubled. Saturday's night cap was a bit easier for the Bulls as they posted a 9-3 win behind a 7-strikeout performance from MacLachlan. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate. Lasby picked up three hits, Chuy Ramirez had a couple and Dakota Meeds singled. Red Bluff used another rally, Sunday, to knock off Susanville 3-2. Sam Geveden fought off 10 pitches before drawing a 2-out walk. MacLachlan followed with a walk and Lasby singled in the game-winner. Danny Vietti pitched a complete game to earn the win, striking out six batters. Lasby followed with his own complete game in Game 2 as Red Bluff won again 3-2/ Lasby struck out nine batters and also picked up two hits at the plate.
