MU NEWS Χ Ω Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of California-Berkeley Fall 2014 Mu Chapter Shows Dedication F riendship, growth, and selflessness sum up our past year in Mu Chapter at UC Berkeley. With the passion and energy from our recruitment leaders, including National Recruitment Consultant Libby Stropko, Zeta Beta '11, we welcomed 43 energetic and passionate new members into our sisterhood. Mu Chapter Gives Back We were ecstatic to win Pi Phi's Arrowbands, a dance and lip-sync competition for the Literacy Fund, after weeks of dance lessons from our own talented sisters. With inspiration from Gamma Beta Chapter, we transformed our traditional BBQ into a campus-wide wing-eating contest, Wings for Wishes. Our event surpassed all expectations, receiving stellar attendance and selling out of apparel, to ultimately raise $1,200 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Philanthropy Chair Ali Conrad '13, said, "It's great seeing the Greek community, friends, and family help us reach our goal to make wishes come true." Creative Focus on Academic Excellence Mu Chapter has placed a special emphasis on scholarship this semester, initiating creative tactics to grow academically. Our plans consist of Library Crawls before finals week, Big/Little GPA competitions, and office hour "power hours." Several of our sisters placed in the top 4% of all Letters & Science students to receive the Dean's Honor Award. Scholarship Chair Juliet Barker '16 is excited to plan Scholarship Week to push us closer to our goal of placing in the top-four for all- sorority GPA. Mu Chapter Leads on and off Campus Whether it is humanitarian organizations, academic clubs, or sports teams, Mu Chapter values extra curricular involvement. New Member Educator Megan Porter '16 fights to end world hunger in her spare time as president of Feel Good Berkeley while Recruitment Chair Katie Hilton '15 serves as World Health Organization head chair in Berkeley's Model UN. Sisters follow their passions with involvement in Cal Soccer, undergraduate marketing association, YWCA mentoring, and health service internship. Trademarked by passion, altruism, and ambition, the women of Mu Chapter never cease to inspire one another. We thank all of our alumni, parents, and advisors that play such an essential role in sustaining the radiance and glow of our chapter; our door is always open to you.
