Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 W e started off this very exciting fall semester with recruitment. It was a great time to bond as a Chapter while recruiting our new member pledge class. We welcomed 59 baby hooties to our nest. Later that evening we brought PC'14 back to Chi Omega for a very successful Bid Night. This night was filled with pictures, a DJ, a cookout, and many laughs. We are so excited to welcome this new pledge class into our amazing sisterhood. Kappa Alpha GPA Soars We implemented a new study hour policy in the spring semester and we feel it has been working very well. Our chapter grade point average came out to be 3.246. This was above the all- university G.P.A., as well as the all-university female G.P.A. Twenty members received a 4.0 and were recognized at our scholarship dinner on September 17. We are very happy with our accomplishments over the last semester. Our G.P.A. is increasing and we are looking forward to our studies this semester. Philanthropic Success The philanthropy that we held last spring was Chi O Casino. We rented out a room in the Holiday Inn and set up a casino for the night. We channeled our inner Vegas persona and played black jack, poker, and craps all night long. The Chi Omegas were dealers for all of our games. We had fun practicing and learning how to play games. We had a photographer and videographer to broadcast the event. We raised over $7,000, which went straight to Make-a-Wish! We look forward to our philanthropy in December, Candy Cane Lane on McCain. Chapter Represented at Convention The New Member Educator and I went to Convention this summer in Orlando, Florida. We were able to gather new information, learn from successful Chi Omegas, and watch a special initiation. We were also able to take a trip to Disney World on a free afternoon. It was a great experience and we both are so grateful for the opportunity. Fall Happenings We were paired with Phi Gamma Delta and Kappa Sigma for Homecoming, which was the week of October 19. The overall campus wide theme was Wildcats Coast-to-Coast. We created our spinoff of this theme. Chi Omega participated in Pant the Chant, Wildcat Request Live, and pomped our float for the big parade. Sibling's Weekend, which was held at the same time as K-State family weekend, was a success. We had fun games at the house, as well as snacks before the game against the UTEP Minors. It was wonderful to share a game with our siblings, as well as our family and fellow Wildcats. We are most excited to plan and partake in our 100th anniversary on campus. We cannot thank our alumnae enough for the support and guidance that you have given to our house. Our actives are thrilled to partake in our centennial and catch up with the Kappa Alpha alumnae. We would not thrive if it were not for your support and dedication. Please feel free to drop by our Chapter House anytime for a visit. Chi Omega really is a wonderful place and I could not be happier to serve such an enthusiastic group of women.
