Tiger Heart SigEp There is a new SigEp in Columbia committed to SigEp Excellence. Sigma Phi Epsilon Missouri Alpha P.O. Box 50152 Clayton, MO 63105 Address Service Requested Veteran's Day and many others. "Because of these speeches I started to realize that the mission of the National Cemetery Administration was definitely part of my passion, and at the age of 60 I totally changed career paths and joined them. I am now a cemetery director at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Arkansas." Over the 70th anniversary celebration of D-Day in Normandy, Tom was honored to deliver a speech at a monument dedicated to the brave men of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions in Sainte Mere-Eglise. "I will always remember the spirit of the French people and the gratitude they showed to the visiting veterans who gave them back their freedom. It was magical and an experience that will never be forgotten or duplicated again." Tom's career change has brought him from southern California back to the Midwest, with a brief stay in St. Louis. Tom has enjoyed catching up with some brothers while in the area. "We must never forget: once a SigEp, always a SigEp." Reach out to Tom via e-mail at tmr1995@aol.com. Centennial Weekend One to Remember The undergraduates were impressed by the number of alumni who returned to Columbia to help celebrate. The house was renovated and repaired in honor of the important event. The weekend kicked off with an open house at 405 Kentucky on Friday night. On Saturday, we had a brunch in a press box at Faurot Field, a very cool setting made possible by some alumni, then we returned to the house to initiate one of our fall members. I believe the alumni enjoyed the ritual, and we were impressed with how many remembered the correct procedure for the ritual. Saturday night was the main event, a banquet held at the Holiday Inn. There we honored two distinguished alumni, Vern Smith '73 and Dave Larusso '76, for their hard work and commitment to SigEp. We also presented the first-ever John Hartman Award to senior and former president Mike Weber '15. The John Hartman Award goes to the member who shows the most dedication and passion to SigEp. It was certainly a weekend to remember and we hope all that attended enjoyed themselves. Academics on the Rise We had an above-average year in academics as we finished 7th in GPA out of 32 fraternities. Our new members reached the top five in new member GPA, and as a fraternity we were .02 away from beating the all-university average, something we hope to conquer this fall. Spring and Fall Full of Social Accomplishments We have not had a semester as successful athletically as last semester. SigEp finished first place in Greek Week Sports paired with the women of Pi Beta Phi. SigEp was also awarded first place overall in University of Missouri Rec. Sports Intramurals. Participation in philanthropies was big during the spring; we won first place in Sigma Kappa's Field Day. It all ended with a beautiful spring weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. This semester Missouri Alpha won third place in Homecoming, paired with Kappa Delta and Alpha Kappa Lambda. Chapter Sets Goals for Fall Our goals for the fall include creating a new philanthropy as we were unable to continue with our annual Scare-a-thon Halloween philanthropy. We always try to improve our academic standing and hope to end in the top five GPA. Serving Missouri Alpha has been an outstanding experience with many lessons learned that I will carry forward. Thank you to my executive committee for all their outstanding work. I hope the foundation we have laid will enable the new committee to take Missouri Alpha to the next level of excellence.
