Monday - Friday, 10am – 2pm Quartzsite, AZ - Last year, Quartzsite's premier event was The Grand Gathering. It was "The" 2014 venue for celebrating GRAND Parents, Great GRANDS and family. Participants set a world record for the world's largest letter "Q" formed entirely of people. Live entertainment, food, and vendors complement- ed the world record event. The Grand Gathering 2015- The Legacy - will be held March 6-8, 2015. Events include: "The Legacy" Free brief seminars and information to assist families in documenting important infor- mation to pass on to their family members, including: How to Cre- ate a Family Tree; Family Lore - Recording family stories to be re- lated to current family members and future generations. Health History - How to document the The GRAND Gathering 2015 - The Legacy health conditions of various fam- ily members over time to facili- tate informed, quality health care to younger family members; and, "The Five Wishes," key documen- tation for health care directives. The "Senior PROM" takes place on Saturday, March 7th featur- ing The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra - LIVE, with Bill Tole, Directing, and Nancy Knorr, Vocalist. QIA's 50th Anniversary Dinner March 6th, Celebrating the 50th year of operation of Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA)- Quartzsite's earliest non-profi t organization. The people, and the major events; capsulized in an evening of good food and fun. In addition to the above events, The Grand Gathering will fea- ture Paul Winer Boogie Woogie and Blues Concert, outdoor BB- Q lunches, and a Craft Fair. The QIA is the sponsoring or- ganization for The Grand Gath- ering - The Legacy. The QIA is Quartzsite's oldest non-profi t organization. For the last fi fty years, funds have been raised via QIA activities to support the Town of Quartzsite, and local organizations, through provid- ing equipment and donations to- wards identifi ed needs. We had the best turnout we have had for our fi rst out- ing. Thanks for the volunteer work crew who cleared and raked the course last week so it was in excellent condi- tion for us. The best score of the day was turned in by the the team of Bill Buckley and Jerry Taylor who shot an 18 under par score of 38. They were followed by two teams to who 40's. Those teammates were Brad Romaine and Russ Leininger along with Bud Key and John Hall. Fourth place was the team of Bill Toner and Linda Taylor who fi red a score of 41. Closest to the pin on hole 8 with a hole in one was Brad Romaine. Closest to the pin on hole 9 for the women was Linda Taylor. Long drive for men on hole 13 was won by Russ Leininger. Women's long driver on hole 13 was LeeRaye Christner. Our next tournament of the year will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 starting at 9:00 at Rainbow Acres.
