September 7, 2011 Perspectives Quirky Quartzsite's Contributed by Violet Kiss Let's talk about our Tapestry of Quartzsite. What a wonderful town we live in. The majestic mountains, the clear, dry air, the swirling winds, the cracked and jagged earth, all indicative of our homes, our lives, our faces. This is our world and we welcome all who want to visit, play, work, or live. In these troubled last few months, we heard ven- omous statements in the 'virtual' world of biased and unsubstantiated verbiage, one-sided all the way. Blogs, articles, online interviews and lastly a round- up rally for Ron Paul all came to a head the weekend of August 27 & 28, by known Libertarian-types, both here and from the outside. We've had investigations, lawsuits, radio interviews, articles "ad nauseam" re- peated and reprinted by a myriad of loosely called news blogs and online editions of that ilk. Over and over again, we, the Townspeople of Quartzsite, have proven the outrageousness and falsehoods of the Coalitionists and Anarchists of this town. When have we seen one shred of real evidence proving any of their statements? They accuse our Chief Gilbert with rumors and personal complaints that go back as much as 5 years ago. An outside investigation hired by the Town's Risk Pool not only clears our Chief, shames the accusing police for those minor 'belly-achings', and unsub- stantiated claims. Ed Foster, a Coalition leader and owner/editor of the Mineshaft, a very ANTI-Quartz- site blog, accused our Chief in June, 2010 with the DPS as well as this last July, 2011 via the outside in- vestigation. Both cases are in our Library for review. Much of the same incorrect accusations appear in both. Foster lost his case in June, 2010. This year, same thing occurred, no wrong-doing. Lest we not forget, Foster also had a lawsuit against the town last year. Unsurprisingly, the case was dismissed for lack of merit. Has he paid any of the court costs he is supposed to pay? He lost another case last month. Has he paid one cent on those court costs he has to pay? Take a guess. Jennifer "Jade" Harris Jones also lost two civil lawsuits against our Town (in Federal and Superior Courts) and tried her utmost to disrupt and 'stage' her theatrics. She got a lot of press with the anti- governnment groups and those who would simply pick up a sensational story without checking fur- ther. If one had checked further --- this is simply our little Quartzsite going through one more "tiff" which started back when we incorporated in 1989. Nothing new, it's still the proverbial Hatfield versus McCoy feud (and we all know who these actors were and still are). Although the "Jennifers", "Michaels" and "Eds" of this world do have their agendas of removing gov- ernment, the rest of us here in Quartzsite know the background of this "tapestry" of a story, don't we? www.Desert Messenger.com We know who backs what and why, we know who pays for what and why. Lastly there are a few in that story who just don't get it that they will be dropped in a millisecond if and when the benefactor either gets what he wants or simply has to try another tac- tic, again. What is the "Perspective" in all this? The Coali- tionists and other anti-Quartzsite people tried one recall after another. Two of our Council members were recalled by them last summer. The incumbents both won and kept their seats. Last spring, the Co- alitionists and oppositionists tried to unseat the rest of the Council. What happened? Every single mem- ber of the Council stayed aboard. Obviously, our Townspeople SPOKE. Then last week, we had a recall on the Mayor, Ed Foster, who has been a thorn not only in the Council and Town Hall's side, but in ALL of our sides trying to destroy the town and actually thwart the return of our snowbirds and vendors by smearing our town's name and anything within it. Shame on them. What was the outcome of the Recall vote? Ed Foster and Jennifer Jones lost, and the Town won. Jose Lizar- raga won by 53% to 42% (Foster), which is a land- slide for elections --- again, it's vividly clear how our Townspeople spoke! Jose Lizarraga has shown in the past his honor, his fairness, his work for the Town, his involvement with the town. We welcome him with open arms and wish him well in his new position. We, the Townspeople, do not want to hear even one more time that Jennifer Harris Jones or Ed Foster speak for the Townspeople. They clearly do not. We have spoken in these elections and the Townspeople of Quartzsite say, "The growth, vitality, families, and safety of Quartzsite are important to us. Everything is fine. There is work to be done. We like our Town we are all here to stay and to keep this disruption from our Town." Thank you, the good people of Quartzsite for vot- ing for what is right and true. Our old and young, all races, nationalities, born or retired, from the north, south, east, or west, this is our Tapestry, our home. IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO AL'S YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO QUARTZSITE! Aug. 23- Jones vs. Town of Quartzsite case dis- missed. In April of 2011 Jennifer Harris-Jones filed a complaint against the Town, Town Council, Wes- ley Huntley, Police Chief Jeffrey Gilbert and Town Manager Alexandra Taft in Superior Court of La Paz County. Ms. Jones was represented by David J. Hoss- ler, of Hunt, Gale, Meerchaum, Orduno & Hossler Law Firm. The Town, represented by the Risk Pool appointed attorney, Rae Richardson, filed for a mo- tion to dismiss the complaint. Mr. Hossler contested a motion to dismiss and subsequently requested a change of Judge. Judge Randolph Bartlett in Mohave County Superior Court ruled to dismiss the complaint by Ms. Harris-Jones against the Town.
