SF Brotherhood Motorcycle Club Celebrates Anniversary by JANICE BURTON The members of the Special Forces Regiments have a unique bond. For the men who serve on an SF ODA, their teammates are more than co-workers, they are family. Together, they are a brotherhood. They work together, but more im- portantly, they spend their free time together, and from that unique bond, The SF Brotherhood Motorcycle Club was formed on Fort Bragg on Sept. 9, 2006 by 10 active duty and one retired Special Forces member. The 1st charter stood up at Fort Bragg — the home of Special Forces. On Saturday, Sept, 10, the club will celebrate its fifth anniversary at the Special Forces Associaton on Doc Bennet Road, with live music, food and drinks, raffles and more fun. "The fifth anniver- sary of a motorcycle club is pretty important," said Troy Anderson, one of the members of the organiza- tion. "It's a big milestone for us." In celebration of that milestone, members of charter clubs throughout the United States will make their way to Fayetteville to participate in the event. If taken at face value, the club is a fun way for like-minded individuals to enjoy riding their bikes, but it goes a little deeper than that. The club's mission is to "provide a club for current and former members of the Special Forces Regiment, who love to ride and enjoy the company of those that ride. To provide an organization where like-minded war- rior patriots can gather, express their views and opinions and enjoy each others company. To always honor our fallen brothers, their families and preserve the his- tory of our brotherhood." It is the last line of the mission that is at the heart of the club. Every activity taken, every poker run ran and even this anniversary party are conducted to raise money for The Green Beret Foundation. The Green Beret Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 foundation that provides financial resources, immediate need supplies, caregiver assistance and educational scholarships to wounded or ill Army Special Forces warriors and their families. The goal of the organization is to mitigate the burden of America's most elite warriors, and facilitate their return to active duty or a successful transition to civil- ian life. The foundation has a number of programs that operate under its auspices, one of which is providing for casualty care costs incurred by families when their service- member is wounded. The foundation helps provide funding to get family members to the bedside of injured soldiers if they have been injured in combat. To learn more about the Green Beret Foundation and its many programs, visit the website at www.greenberetfoundation.org. "We ride together because it's fun," said Anderson, "but every ride is in sup- port of our regiment." The anniversary party is no exception. The event begins at 3 p.m., and through- out the afternoon, there will be live music, raffles, a 50/50 draw, food and adult beverages. There is no admission fee; however, donations are asked for all events. "It's going to be a great event and it will bring a lot of the members of our regi- ment together," said Anderson, adding that it is open to the public. "We would like people who are interested in supporting the Green Beret Foundation to come out and spend the afternoon with us."
