Pie auction to help fund LM library Special to the DN It is a truth that when two people or groups of people join forces and pull in the same direction, the result can be more than the sum of its parts. That was the thinking of the Tehama County Museum (TCM) and the Los Molinos Women's Club as the Los Molinos branch of the Library got a one year reprieve from the county. Main St. has taken on as one of its community service causes the effort to retain the branch Library in Los Molinos," said Barbara Whitten, member of the Los Molinos Women's Club and co-chair of the Tehama County Friends of the Library, Los Molinos Branch. "Part of this effort will take place in prime time at the 30th annual Tehama County Museum Jubilee which has expand- ed its program of enter- tainment to include two pie auctions – from 11:20- 11:40 a.m. and from 12:20-12:40 p.m.- all to the fast talking voice of professional auctioneer – Lyle Dawson." For many years, one of the feature attractions at the TCM Jubilee has been the "pie-by-the-slice and ice cream" sales by the Los Molinos Women's Club. At this year's Jubilee, there will be "pies on steroids." Over 40 pies – all homemade - have been volunteered from all over the county. Both the TCM and the Woman's Club are enthusiastic about this cooperative effort. James W. Los Molinos Women's Club member Barbara Whitten and Tehama County Museum president Chris Bauer anticipate the fun at the site of the upcoming Tehama County Muse- um 30th annual Jubilee, Craft/Artisan Faire and Pie Auction. It looks suspiciously like Chris is trying to cut a pre-auction deal, but Bar- bara's too savvy to fall for it.The public is encouraged to come to the Museum on Saturday, Sept. 10, and have some fun while supporting community efforts. "This is a win-win-win situation," said TCM Executive Director Pam Britting. "The TCM fund raising celebration will be enhanced by the pie auctions. The Women's Club's efforts on behalf of the Library will be improved by inclu- sion of the pie auctions, and the community will benefit from the continued health and service of both the Museum and the Library. That's how 1+1=3!" TCM Board President Chris Bauer was quick to give additional credit where it is due. "Of course the Tehama County Museum and the Los Molinos Women's Club are not the only two ducks in this puddle," Bauer said. "Jubilees and pie auctions cannot be put on without all of the ele- ments of community sup- port that make them a suc- cess – from the Central Tehama Kiwanis Club and their student wing the Los Molinos High School Key Club; to the entertainers and the antique appraisers; to the crafters and arti- sans; to local businesses and the set up and tear down crews; to the pie bakers and– of course, the members of the communi- ty who come to listen, eat, buy raffle tickets, browse the booths and bid on pies so that the event will suc- ceed. All are appreciated. All of these people care about their community and so give freely of their time and talent. The com- munity wins by its own involvement." Ide Adobe meeting An Ide Adobe Interpretive Association board meeting is scheduled at 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Ide Adobe Park on Wednesday, Sept 7. The focus of the meeting will be to brain- storm ideas for keeping Ide Adobe open. Any- one interested is encouraged to attend.
