We hope you can come and join us. We promise it will be a perfectly fun day with lots of laugh. Bring your cameras! I am going to keep this article short be- cause we still have much to do and you can read Judi Clark's article in this issue (Page 20) Also see updates and details on our Facebook page: https://www. facebook.com/quartzsiterotaryday The most important message for me to convey today are which roads to take to our event. If you are participating in the RUN, WALK, ROCK & ROLL… please take Main St to Plymouth Ave (Beall's) and park at the Town Hall/Library or at the La Paz County Courthouse. Registration will be at the courthouse. Registration is from 8 to 8:45. Race starts 9:00am! These streets will be blocked from 8 until 11am for the race: E Tyson east of La Paz County Clinic to Plymouth Ave and Plymouth Ave south to the court- house. And Plymouth Ave to E Quail Trail up to the Community Center. You guessed it! That is our race course! CAR & MOTORCYCLE participants should take CHANDLER ST from 95N (turn at Best Auto). If you want to go directly to the town park anytime from 8am to 11am, you should also take CHANDLER ST. If you use a motorized wheelchair or scooter for the Run, Walk, Rock & Roll, we have a charging station set up for your free use after the race. Please plan to par- ticipate in our drag race later in the day. If you ride your bike or trike in the Run, Walk, Rock & Roll — and we en- courage you to do this for either the 5K or the non-5K… plan to enter our "Slow Bicycle Race." You might want to prac- tice ahead of time. Net proceeds from RUN WALK ROCK & ROLL and CAR & MOTORCYCLE SHOW entries will be split equally between QUARTZSITE FOOD BANK and END POLIO NOW. ENJOY THE PAPER Just a note to let you know how much I always enjoy the Desert Messenger. I read every issue. I make sure I get it when I come to Quartzsite for the winter months. When I am at home in Alberta Canada in the summer months I read it online. Keep up the good reporting, it re- ally keeps me informed whether I am in Quartzsite or Canada. Thank you Gracemary Holthe Lethbridge Alberta Canada NICE VISIT TO QUARTZSITE My hats off to the young man that I know only of Donny, who works at the Super 8 Motel. My wife and I (83 and 85 years of age) where driving to LA from Ohio to visit my 97 year old sister who's not well. We stopped in your beautiful little town of Quartzsite to get a room so we could get a night's rest before our fi - nal leg to LA. While stopping to check in at the Super 8 offi ce, I locked my keys in the car. This outstanding young man named Donny came to work. He got on his cellular right away trying to fi nd us help. The cost for somebody to come out this late was awful high. At this time Donny looked for ways to get the keys out for us but was unable to do so. He then called a Tow truck, which we found out later in the evening, Donny took care of the bill would not accept any type of payment. He told my wife and I that the only thing which mattered to him was we got to go see my sister in LA. This town will be talked about on our journeys for a very long time. The town of Quartzsite is one of the loveliest towns we have come across and the people in it are aw- ful warming.God bless the town and the beautiful people in it. Thank you the town of Quartzsite, AZ. PS I read the Desert Messenger while waiting for the help to arrive. I have taken a couple editions with me to share with folks along our way to show them this wonderful place. Thank you Donny, the town of Quartzsite and the Desert Messenger for keeping me busy. Sincerely , Homer Hall NICE VISIT TO QUARTZSITE JAM Ministries of the Quartzsite First Assembly of God Church would like to thank all the businesses that donated for our recent events: the spaghetti dinner and the fall festival. We would like to give a big thank you to the Gen- eral Store who donated 10 lbs of ground beef, Roadrunner Market for the 20 heads of lettuce. We also want to thank the East Side Breadery for the 20 loaves of French bread. We also got donations from various people in the community to name a few, the wonderful ladies run- ning for school board Carrollynn Hen- shaw, Monica Timberlake, and Yesenia Jackson. Their donation was very gen- erous. Thanks to all the people who do- nated candy and prizes. The two events will help send our children to summer camp which costs around $200 per child. We will also be hosting a Christ- mas Party for the young and the older children. It will be held on December 19th at the Community Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. We will have a special visitor with fun and games. More info to come; watch for our fl yers. Please feel free to contact Children's Ministry Leader Carla Price, 928-916- 2266 for more information or if you would like to make donations. JAM Ministries will do what it takes to make this a better place to raise children in a safe fun community; where they are im- portant; and they will grow up to know that their voice can be heard; and make a difference in the future of this com- munity. They are the future. We teach them good values and to love others as they would want to be loved and treat others as they would want to be treated. Jesus said, "Let the children come unto me, do not forbid them for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." May God bless everyone and thank you. Carol Price
