NOV. 12 TH for Nov. 19 TH edition Desert Messenger Email: editor@DesertMessenger.com 928-916-4235 www.DesertMessenger.com by Judi Clark In the last edition of the Des- ert Messenger, I mainly talked about the Run, Walk, Rock & Roll (RWRR) and left it that I'd talk more in this edition about the rest of the day. Just remember that registration for the RWRR starts at 8am at the Courthouse on Plym- outh Ave. (Park at Town Hall or Courthouse.) While you are running or walking or bicycling or skateboarding or maneuvering your wheelchair or electric scooter… Another team will be registering cars and motorcycles and parking them in the baseball fi eld. At 11:00 the gates will open to start the PEOPLE'S CHOICE voting for best in show for each category: car or motorcycle. The winner will receive a custom made trophy at our 4 pm award ceremo- ny. As you go through the gate for the CAR & MOTORCYCLE show, take a chance on our 50/50 raffl e, which also will be drawn at 4pm. (It is not too late to show your car or motorcycle… registration is $20 per vehicle, from 9:30 to 11:00 am) Our carnival games start at 11:00. You will recall from my last article, that everything we are doing for the day is to be eye candy and fun. Our chosen games should fulfi ll this goal as well. These games will be played all day: Bottle Waddle Race, Jackass Ball, Marble Maze, Water Balloon Toss, Water Balloon Shot-put, Quahtzee, Bola Toss, Cowboy Rope Toss and Beer-on-a- Stick Race (in Beer Garden). Then we have these competitions planned to take place in front of the grandstands: Wheel Chair Races (plan to bring your own or use one of ours), Motor Scooter (or motor Wheelchair) Drag Race, 3-Legged Sack Race, Tire Roll Race, and my favorite: the Slow Bicycle Race. Yes, whoever fi nishes LAST wins this one! Practice ahead of time. To play games, you purchase tick- ets. Winners receive tokens, which are turned into fantastic prizes at our prize booth. (See web page link below for sneak peak at prizes!) The main game event of the day is a PIE BOBBIN' CONTEST which takes place at 3pm. This game will cost $20 to enter — and the winner takes home a 32" Sony Bravia HD- TV that lists for $549.99. The chuck wagon lunch will be available from 11:45 until the food is gone. We'll be serving Delicious Pulled Pork Sandwiches or All Beef Hotdogs. DJ Kevin will spin the tunes and beer and wine will be served in the beer garden. For families with young children we have the KIDDIE KORRAL: A spe- cial game area for kids under 5 (must be with an adult) - $5 all day pass. We are already selling tickets for our big prize raffl es — winner need not be present at drawing - you can buy tickets at the event or visit one of these places: Shell, Best Auto or Horizon Community Bank to buy tickets in advance. Win a 29" Mon- goose Bike, 32" Sony Bravia HD- TV, Azpen Tablet, or ViewSonic Digital Photo frame. We will also be holding raffl e drawings through- out the day.
