Lonnie Tues. & Thurs (starting Nov. 11th) According to court documents ob- tained by Desert Messenger, the female plaintiff alleges harassment occurred multiple times at her workplace over the past two years. The complaint alleges Irwin threatened to injure and even kill her. The plaintiff stated in June, 2014 she fi led a formal complaint with the La Paz Co. Sherriff's Offi ce (LPCSO.) Plaintiff stated she asked for another offi cer to conduct the investigation due to friendships between Irwin and inves- tigating offi cer. The complaint states, "the Sheriff refused." In September, the plaintiff said she made another formal complaint with LPCSO asking that Irwin be ordered to stop harassing her and stop slandering her husband. According to the Plaintiff, "Per LPCSO policy and procedures, an offi cer of the department must con- duct himself in a professional manner on and off duty that will not bring dis- credit to the department." The Plaintiff presented to the court two signed let- ters from witnesses of the alleged ha- rassment (one was a manager at her workplace.) After days of contacts between the fi rm of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, P.L.C. and Constable BearCat, Judge Williams ordered the fi rm to accept service on the Irwin's behalf. The La Paz County Board of Supervisors had recently hired attorneys from the fi rm of Jones, Skel- ton and Hochuli PLC, members of the Arizona Public Risk Management As- sociation, to represent the county in disputes. Judge Williams had issued a Subpoena Duces Tecum for an Order to Show Cause to LPCSO Civil Deputy Doug Williams as to why the order had not been served, but vacated the order shortly after receiving a request from Irwin's agent. On the Certifi cate of Service, Con- stable BearCat noted that she worked with Arcadia Biltmore District Con- stable Carolyn Lane to affect service on Irwin's agent, Joseph Popolizio, Esq. in her Phoenix district. At Monday's Board of Supervisors meeting, County Manager Dan Field asked for Jail Commander Irwin to answer questions regarding a bond is- sue. Larry Irwin was not present, but his wife was; as Holly Irwin serves as Supervisor of District 3. Sheriff John Drum answered the questions raised. The court told Desert Messenger that the case was under judge's review until Williams returned from vacation. As of press time, the court has not provided further information. IRWIN FROM PAGE 3 candidates were qualifi ed but after our interviews, we chose the candidate that had more experience across the board." District 2 Supervisor King Clapperton concurred saying, "Our selection was en- tirely objective and based upon her [Price's] knowledge and experience in educa- tional administration." When Price took over at the QES District, both schools were "performing schools." Under her leadership, Quartzsite Elementary has received "D" grades for the past three years, while Ehrenberg Elementary also received a "D" grade this past year. Price also admits suspensions have increased due to Zero Tolerance policies but said, "When kids come to school and they are rude and disrespectful, and cause chaos in the classroom, my teachers cannot teach." PRICE FROM PAGE 3 The Quartzsite Desert Flyers has once again started its new winter season. Members are from all over the United States and western Canada. Candidates running for local school board positions have been vocal in promising to make changes in the dis- trict, beginning at the top. The board accepted Price's resignation Tues. Oct. 28th and will meet Wed. Nov. 5th 4:30pm at Ehrenburg Elementary Li- brary to decide how to move forward. The airfi eld has a 500 ft. paved runway, four fl ight stations, 18 fl ight preparation stations, an enclosed shelter and a spectator bleacher.
