He continues to race! Some of Art's accomplishments as a Michigan mountain bike racer span the globe and the country to include: 1996 Masters World Champion: men 50-59 in Cairns, Australia; in other Masters World Championships between 1998 and 2004 he placed second twice, third, fifth, and 10th; 1997 National Champion: expert men 50-59 in Park City, Utah; 1999 National Champion: expert men 50-59 at Mt. Snow, Vermont, and 2000 National Champion: expert men 50-59 in Mammoth Mountain, California. He holds the title of regional masters expert age group champion, or multi-time podium medalist at Red Wing, Minnesota; Snowshoe, West Virginia; Helen, Georgia; Sugarloaf Resort, Michigan; Bryson City, North Carolina; Seven Springs, Pennsylvania; Schuss Mountain, Michigan; Birmingham, Alabama; Paoli, Indiana; and Bellaire, Michigan. Art was also a master's national mountain bike team member for six years, nationally ranked mountain bike expert veteran/ master rider for eight years, and many-time champion and podium holder over the years in the MMBA Championship Point Series, the Fun Promotions Michigan Cup, the USAC/ Norba Michigan Series, and the Tailwind Time Trial Series. In addition to Art's mountain biking accomplishments, he has also raced and finished the Iceman Cometh race more than 16 times and is a four-time age group winner with multiple appearances on the podium. Art is also an individual age group winner at Chequamegon 40 and Ore-2-Shore. He finished the Leadville 100 mountain bike race 10 times and was a four-time age group winner and current record holder for the men 70+ category!
