Ostby '12 In memory of Cole Patrick '12 Add your name to the list by donating online at http://missouridu. kintera.org/ campaign today! 2014 Leadership Conference Highlights DU Alumni and Undergraduates M issouri alumni were prominently featured at this years' Delta Upsilon International Fraternity (DUIF) Leadership Conference that was held at the Downtown Marriott in Kansas City July 31 to August 3. Brother David Novak '74 was the keynote speaker on Saturday, August 2. David, who is chairman and CEO of YUM! Brands, Inc., gave a terrific presentation to the nearly 500 undergraduate and alumni members in attendance. The presentation was based on his trademarked program, "Taking People with You," which emphasizes teamwork and a belief in people that rewards and recognizes customer-focused behaviors. Later that evening, Brother William "Billy" Long '77 was presented with the James A. Garfield Award of Merit in public service. Billy has been the U.S. Congressman for the 7th district in Missouri since 2009. He is also a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Later that evening, Billy, who has been a member of the National Association of Auctioneers for over 30 years, and is a member of the Missouri Professional Auctioneer's Hall of Fame, thrilled the undergraduates with his performance at the annual undergraduate poker tournament and t-shirt auction. Another highlight of the evening was the inauguration of Brother E. Bruce McKinney '74 as DUIF's 41st president. Bruce has been a member of the DUIF board since 2005. He was a long-time chapter advisor of the Missouri Chapter and has served as president of the Missouri Alumni of Delta Upsilon, Inc. for over 15 years. Bruce also serves as the committee chairman for the Missouri DU-Building our Next 100 Years capital campaign. An alumni reception was held in conjunction with the leadership conference. Over 35 Kansas City area alumni and the undergraduate delegation were in attendance. Brothers Bob Hiatt '73 and J.C. Emerson '62 helped organize the event that included showcasing a variety of Missouri DU memorabilia, a slide show of the new house construction, and a testimony by Brother Quentin Campbell '16 regarding his Global Services Initiative experience in Washington D.C.
