Christian Zimmerman has been involved with Te- hama County PAL Martial Arts for more than five years and it's showing more with each practice. Zimmerman grappled Oct. 23 with Sensei Jeremy Rowley for more than five minutes and the two went back and forth, exchang- ing techniques when fi- nally Rowley struggled to escape from an arm entan- glement. The technique, when ap- plied properly, is very diffi- cult to get out of. Zimmer- man hung on until the sen- sei tapped out — signifying he couldn't hang on any lon- ger because of the inability to escape. Tehama County Po- lice Activities League is a 501 (c) (3) non profit youth anti-bullying education program that teaches the youth about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gangs and violence and the importance of education and school grades. PAL can be reached at 529-7950 and its web page is www.tehamaso.org/pal. MENDOCINO FOREST Christmas tree permits available The Red Bluff Emblem club will again be serving refreshments at the Veter- ans Day ceremony Nov. 11 at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo. The observance will be at 10:55 a.m. Originally designated as Armistice Day to celebrate the end of World War I, it now honors all who have served in the United States armed forces. VETERANS DAY Emblem club to serve at Ido ceremony Without the least ex- citement for a presidential election, the voting in Red Bluff today is progressing at a satisfactory rate and at a late hour everything in- dicated a heavy vote in vir- tually all precincts of both the city and country. At an early hour this afternoon about one third of the reg- istration in Red Bluff had voted. — Nov. 4, 1924 90 YEARS AGO... More than a third in city had voted before two o'clock Did I get your atten- tion? Did I strike a nerve that made you perk up? Have you al- ways won- dered what it is like to see the book that you wrote on Ama- zon, in stores and hold it in your own hand? Have you imag- ined telling your personal story, creating a cookbook or writing a novel and im- pacting others? I totally un- derstand because I felt that way too. Then I took mas- sive action and wrote six books in one year. What? Yep, I did. One of my bucket list items before I move away is to hold an Author's event in town. I mean, I have had the pleasure of sharing my story, reading and selling my books all over America, but I have never done much right here where it all happened. I think I was too inse- cure, maybe even shy to put myself out there locally. What if no one comes? Isn't that the one of the same reasons you haven't taken action to write your book? The fear that no one will read it or worse, tell you the book isn't very good? My goal at the event is two fold. I want to meet anyone who wants to un- derstand how to write and get a book out there for the world. I want to answer questions, be helpful and show you that it isn't all that hard. Second, I want to give back to our commu- nity. I want to make it pos- sible for people to buy my children's series of books for one low price and choose a local school, church or other charity to donate them too. It is a real win/win. I will be at Enjoy the Store this Wednesday at 5 p.m. and I hope to see you there. Come, bring your questions, and tell me your dream for your book. Let's see if you can't take action and get your story out there. There isn't rocket science to what I did. It took a desire to make a difference, education about the process and a will- ingness to take a risk. You have those skill-sets too. I hope to see you at Enjoy the Store. I hope you bless a local child or family with my children's series. I hope you allow yourself to dream about your own books and come ask questions. I talk to so many of you in the grocery store, via e-mail and such. It will be awe- some to meet you face-to- face and hear your story.
