SAE e Alabama Alpha Mu News Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Auburn University P.O. Box 241767 Montgomery, AL 36124-1767 Address Service Requested CHAPTER ETERNAL Joe Frank Lassiter III '97 entered Chapter Eternal February 19, 2014. Joe was flying a King Air solo in windy conditions and crashed while attempting to land and pick up a coworker at the Pearland, Texas airport. Anyone that was active during the 1990s likely remembers Joe and could tell you he was a super driven person that positively affected all of those around him. Aer pledging during the summer of 1993, and before formally pledging, Joe had all of us volunteering to clean the house, memorizing composites, providing rides for brothers and rushing other pledges to our class. Joe was then elected to serve pledge class president where all duties were organized and automated before the days of personal computers. Joe went on to serve in great capacities around the house as a brother, notably as treasurer where he had a cash surplus at the end of his term. Much of his service was in conjunction with several part-time jobs he had while in school as he always wanted to serve and help make the house a better place. Following graduation, Joe worked several years as a computer programmer in the accounting field in Philadelphia, Pa. He then went on to marry Emily Stoddard, whom he started dating on the plains, and got his juris doctorate from Alabama where he was top in his class. Aer receiving his law degree they moved to Birmingham, where Joe worked for Maynard, Cooper & Gale for several years. His most recent position was as a partner of Dixie Companies, which owned a plane and helped Joe discover his love for flying. Joe faithfully served Covenant Presbyterian Church as an active member and deacon. Joe spent two summers in the New England area with his family serving underprivileged children and sharing the gospel. Joe was a loving husband and father first, devoting his life to Emily and beautiful daughters Mary Jane and Camille. An active family man, Joe also served as basketball commissioner for Mountain Brook. I know I can accurately speak for all of us who knew Joe. He was a special person and we were certainly blessed to call him our friend and brother. Fraternally, Mason Johnston '93 Wheeler Whitlow Price '02 of Dothan entered Chapter Eternal January 15, 2014, at Flowers Hospital. Wheeler was born October 28, 1979, in Dothan and lived there his entire life. He was a 1998 graduate of Northview High School and a 2002 graduate of Auburn University. He was employed in management with Bobcat of the Wiregrass. Wheeler was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Auburn football. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and family. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Warner Price; his children, Wheeler Whitlow "Whit" Price Jr. and Elizabeth Warner "Libby" Price; his parents, Ed and Beth Price; his brothers, Martin Price III and his Stephanie and Charles Price and wife Maryann; his grandmother, Tommie Weatherford; and numerous aunts, uncles, a niece, a nephew, and cousins. New Website Gives Opportunity for Better Engagement Alumni Encouraged to Visit www.auburnsae.com T he house corporation is excited to announce the launch of a newly managed website. We have made the decision to enlist a third-party provider that can offer more flexibility and customization of the content, allowing more timely and relevant information to our members. We will be looking to add content over the next year and envision this website to be the portal for prospective members, active brothers, and alumni to come together and find the information they need relating to Alabama Alpha Mu. In this day and age, we want to be more engaged with our members and need the content that we currently share via e Alabama Alpha Mu News, mailed correspondence, and other channels to be seamlessly accessible in a centrally managed digital platform. Some of this vision includes enabling you to: • Read articles on alumni and chapter news that has previously only been available only in print form. • Find archived issues of e Alabama Alpha Mu News newsletters in PDF format. • See the schedule of upcoming alumni events and who is planning to attend. • Read and submit career and life updates for our ongoing alumni news section. • Browse photo albums of our time in the chapter and alumni events. • Ask questions and provide feedback to the house corporation. • Take part in polls or provide thoughts on issues/concerns facing the chapter. • Connect with others via established social networking platforms (e.g., Facebook). As we create this new experience, we will also be looking to ensure the right level of privacy is enabled with controlled access to different pieces of information. e bottom line is that we want to be more actively engaged and connected to each other, and we want this website to be one of the vehicles to better support you. When you have any questions related to SAE, we want this to be one of the first places you go to get those questions answered. What else would you be interested in seeing on the website? We are open to feedback and would love to hear what additional functionality and capabilities could be of value. Please share any thoughts with House Corporation President Clint Wilson '98 at wilson@mcwlegal.com.
