She felt a special connection with the enthusiastic and friendly girls and instantly felt at home among them. From serving as song leader and representing Delta Xi as Greek Week queen finalist and Homecoming queen runner-up, Kathy was proud to be a Delta Xi. Some of her favorite memories include sharing date experiences after hours, singing Tri Delta songs, and guessing who was pinned in candlelight ceremonies. The special bond of friendship within her pledge class also holds fond memories. After college, Kathy became a flight attendant for TWA and later Pan American World Airways. She lived in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and flew all over the world. After meeting her husband, John, a Texan living in San Francisco, they moved to Houston. She modeled professionally for 15 years and played competitive tennis for 25 years. Living in Texas has prevented Kathy from staying involved with Delta Xi, but she has been very active in the Tri Delta alumnae chapter in Houston. When she heard about Honoring Our Delta Xi Sisterhood: Building Another 100 Years campaign, she knew she wanted to be a part of it. "I wanted to be a Tri Delta so badly that I vowed to myself if I got their bid, I would pay it forward someday, and that day has come!" She hopes everyone goes back in time and remembers that feeling of anticipation on Bid Day when you are longing to be part of something bigger than yourself. That alone should inspire everyone who resided at 901 Richmond to invest in Delta Xi's future. Kathy and John divide their time between their ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas, and Houston. They enjoy spending time with their daughter, Jenni Swyka, and her two sons, Cole (3) and Hudson (1). She also enjoys playing golf, reading, and traveling.
