Month-long 9/11 lecture series The Peace Institute at CSU, Chico is sponsoring a series of lectures and panel discussions in September, based around the theme, "9/11: Ten Years Later" starting with the first one on Sept. 9. Discussions will be at 7 p.m. on Fridays in the Rowland- Taylor Recital Hall. The four lectures and panel discussions feature current or retired CSU, Chico professors, Butte College professors, a Bay area architect/engineer, a nationally-recognized conspira- cy author, local politicians and community members. "Ten years ago a series of horrific events occurred on Sep- tember 11 resulting in the loss of 3,000 lives, setting off a chain of events that has pro- foundly changed the world in which we live," said Peace Insti- tute Lecture Series spokesper- son Robert Bowman, a retired music professor at CSU, Chico. "New information has been forthcoming that may have sig- nificance in re-evaluating what happened that day and the months and years following. It is time to re-examine 9/11 and its aftermath from a global per- spective as well as locally." • At the first lecture, "Eco- nomic Myths and Realities in the Post 9/11 World," Sept. 9 Richard Ponarul, CSU, Chico Professor of Finance, will dis- cuss the impact of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. economy and the responses from policy makers. He will also discuss the financial crisis of 2008 and cur- rent challenges in economic management as they relate to the post 9/11 world. • The second event, "Empire or Republic: The Impact of 9/11 on American Foreign and Domestic Policy," will be a panel discussion on Sept. 16 where panelists will be Kate Transchel, CSU, Chico and Butte College history professor; Jeffery Crawford, Butte College history professor; and retired CSU, Chico political science professors William Stewart and Monday, August 29, 2011 – Daily News Legal Notices Legal Notices Legal Notices Legal Notices YOU ARE IN DEFAULT UNDER A DEED OF TRUST DATED JANUARY 24, 2011. Gage will lead the discussion "9/11 Blueprint for Truth – Re- examining the Destruction of the Three World Trade Center High-rises." Gage will present the argument there is scientific evidence that the three trade towers were brought down by pre-planted explosions and not the result of the impact from the airliners and the resultant fires. Following Gage's talk, the lecture "911: Ten Years Later" will be led by conspiracy-author David Ray Griffin. Griffin, author of the 2004 book, The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11, will argue the case that the 9/11 Commission Report was a cover-up operation. • The final event of the Peace Institute's Lecture Series, "Post 9/11: How the Aftermath Affects Our Community," will be on Sept. 30. The event con- sists of a panel discussion, small group discussions, and a brain- storming session with panelists and members of the audience. Panelists include local politi- cians and community members Ali Sarsour, Palestinian-born long-time Chico resident and human rights activist; Tim Roy, MD-physician at the Chico Vet- erans Clinic and retired Lt.
