Pryor has said he will not appeal the suspension. ''I didn't have to be in the supplemental draft, and I was allowed in,'' Pryor said. ''I'm just going to take the opportunity. I'm not going to bad mouth it or give my opinion on the good side, bad side. It goes both ways. I'm just glad they gave me the opportu- nity.'' Pryor gave up his final season with the Buckeyes after an investigation into the team's memorabilia- for-cash scandal that cost coach Jim Tressel his job. He looks like a quarterback, feels like a quarterback, sounds like a quarterback, and I'm very excited to work with him.'' The Raiders haven't had anyone wear No. 2 since releasing JaMarcus Rus- sell in May 2010 after three horrible seasons in Oakland. ''Coach won't let me wear No. 2,'' Pryor said. ''Why, I don't know? You tell me. He won't let me wear No. 2. I'm just going off what coach tells me.'' Pryor wasn't the only new player on the field for the Raiders' final practice before breaking camp in Napa and heading back to their headquarters in Alameda. Oakland also signed veteran cornerback Lito Sheppard and gave him a chance right away. Sheppard is a former Pro Bowler who has bounced around the past few seasons and was out of a job at the start of training camp. He started nine games for the New York Jets in 2009 and three for Philadelphia the previous season. He had been a starter for the Eagles before that, intercepting 14 passes between 2004-06. Sheppard said he's very comfortable playing man- to-man coverage, the sta- ple of Oakland's defense. ''That's what I primarily did the majority of my career,'' he said. ''It's defi- nitely tough on the corners but hey, that's what I do, that's what got me into this league and obviously that's what's going to keep me around or take me out.'' The Raiders are thin at cornerback following injuries to starter Chris Johnson and rookie DeMarcus Van Dyke. Oakland has only one healthy veteran on the ros- ter in Stanford Routt, while young players like Van Dyke and second-year pro Walter McFadden have struggled. Schierholtz not ready to play SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz tested his fractured right foot Friday and is still too sore to play a full game. San Francisco's brass was waiting until Schierholtz underwent an exam from a team doctor later Friday before deciding whether to put yet another key player on the disabled list. The defending World Series cham- pion Giants placed five players on the DL during their recent 4-6 road trip and six others missed time with injuries. Schierholtz went without a walking boot Friday for Local Businesses! Be True to your Schools! (530) 527-2151 the first time this week and did some early sprint work in left field, then followed that by hitting in the cage. ''He's still a little sore,'' manager Bruce Bochy said about an hour before the Giants hosted the Houston Astros. Schierholtz fouled a pitch from Atlanta's Tim Hud- son off his foot in the series opener with the Braves on Aug. 15. Schierholtz played through it, then had an MRI during Monday's off day. A CT scan followed to confirm the fracture. Schierholtz has hit safely in seven of his last eight games and went 9 for 32 with two homers and two RBIs on the road trip. ''I was hoping it would feel better right now,'' Schierholtz said. ''I might have to remind myself I did break it. ... I don't know if I made it worse playing through it. Everything in me wants to play. If I get back to where I was last week and back track, I can't help. I can't play in that kind of pain. If I come back to soon, I'm going to be back where I started.'' Injured closer Brian Wilson, last season's major league saves leader with 48, threw for six minutes on flat ground for the second straight day as he works back from elbow inflammation. There is no timetable for his return, though Bochy hopes for early September. Fel- low reliever Sergio Romo, who also has an inflamed pitching elbow, threw one inning Friday in Arizona rookie ball and could be activated Sunday. Also Sunday, San Francisco is expected to get out- fielder Andres Torres back from a lower right leg con- tusion. The Giants are calling up left-hander Eric Surkamp from Double-A Richmond to pitch Saturday in his major league debut. That means San Francisco must clear roster room on both the 40-man and 25-man ros- ters. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Surkamp is pitching in place of the injured Jonathan Sanchez, sidelined with a sprained ankle. Surkamp is 10-4 with a 2.02 ERA and 165 strikeouts in 23 appearances and 22 starts this sea- son for the Flying Squirrels. Rookie Brandon Belt was quick to send Surkamp a congratulatory text message to the 24-year-old Surkamp. They played together last year in the minors. ''He's got a fierce demeanor,'' Belt said. ''He goes right after you. He gets a lot of strikeouts with his curveball. That thing is nasty.'' While Romo could be ready soon, he's on alert to return to Phoenix for the birth of his second son at any time. He deemed himself 100 percent after throwing 15 sliders among his 20 pitches Friday. He allowed one hit and struck out three in the one inning. Romo is 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA in 53 appearances. ''I'm rockin','' Romo said. ''If there's a positive I got out of this was a couple weeks rest.'' Third baseman Pablo Sandoval had Friday night off to rest his ailing shoulder and quadriceps muscle. Packers win late at Colts Packers 24, Colts 21 INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Graham Harrell led Green Bay to 11 points in the final 35 seconds, rally- ing the defending Super Bowl champs to a 24-21 vic- tory over Indianapolis on Friday night. Harrell threw an 11-yard TD pass to Ryan Taylor with 35 seconds left, then hooked up with Taylor again on the 2-point conversion to make it 21-21. After the Packers recovered an onside kick, Harrell set up Mason Crosby for a 50-yard field goal as time expired. Colts backup Curtis Painter also played well, going 11 of 21 for 171 yards. Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers was in midseason form, going 19 of 23 for 204 yards with one TD to give Green Bay a 10-0 second-quarter lead. The Packers improved to 2-1. The Colts (0-3) have lost nine straight exhibition games. Rams 14, Chiefs 10 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Sam Bradford led St. Louis to a pair of touchdowns, and the Rams' defense made life miserable for Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel. Bradford was 8 of 8 for 76 yards on his first two series, with scoring passes of 6 yards to Mike Sims- Walker and 11 yards to rookie tight end Lance Kendricks. Bradford finished with 95 yards passing in his most significant dress rehearsal before the Rams' opener against Philadelphia. When the reigning NFL offensive rookie of the year wasn't slicing up the Chiefs' struggling defense, Steven Jackson was pounding it into submission. The big running back carried 15 times for 72 yards as St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo played his starters the entire first half. The Chiefs also played their first team until half- time, with much different results. Cassel was 6 of 13 for 59 yards and was sacked for an 11-yard loss, while Kansas City's top-ranked rush- ing attack produced just 14 yards on six first-half attempts. Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, who combined for 2,363 yards rushing in 2010, each car- ried twice for 8 yards.
