4A Daily News – Thursday, August 25, 2011 Pastimes Photography show reception set for Friday Red Bluff Art Associ- ation members will dis- play their works at the Kelly-Griggs House Summer Social, 12:30- 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. Featured will be art in a variety of mediums and covering a wide range of subjects. Prints and cards also will be available. Fifteen percent of all purchases will be donat- ed back to Kelly-Griggs to aid in the care and restoration of the historic museum. As an added attraction this year, artists will be doing demonstrations using the new presenta- tion mirror purchased through a grant from the Tehama County Arts Council (tehamaarts.org), made possible by the Califor- nia Arts Council and the One Million Plates for the Arts Project (www.cac.ca.gov/license plate). Other features of the afternoon will be an exhibit by the Tehama County Photo Club, wine tasting, olive oil sam- pling, music groups and a children's jump house. Admission is $5 and includes ice cream and a tour of the museum. Bringing fine art photography from all over the world to the local community is the intent of the Tehama County Photo Club's Images From A Glass Eye International Juried Photography show. Entries were received from throughout Califor- nia, nation-wide and faraway places such as China, Germany, Australia, Switzerland and Canada to compete in the 2011 show. The contest, open to all photographers, has no particular theme so the show will include a broad spectrum of subjects. The full gamut of photography will be represent- ed with both film and digital images in both color and monochrome. It will include images from novice photographers to those who have receive international recognition. The jurors, Susan and Neil Silverman, have nar- rowed down the online entries to 31 images and will be present to make the final selections for awards after viewing the printed and framed images. The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. with the Best of Show receiving $1,000, Second Place-$400, and Third Place-$100. Many of the photographs will be available for sale. The public is invited to attend the opening and Artist's reception, which will take place 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at the Big Picture, 857 Washington St., Red Bluff. The show will run through Oct. 28. Research in the associa- tion archives indicates, "The Red Bluff Art Merchant opens Association became the first charter member of the Kelly-Griggs Muse- um Association when Mrs. H.E. All the cameras were donated by local people over the years. Since owners Joanne Ehorn's husband was a professional pho- tographer for so many, years peo- ple automatically thought of him when they had a camera. Ralph Ehorn was a profession- al photographer in Red Bluff for almost 50 years, doing every- thing from portraits, weddings, little league and proms. He also did photography for car magazines, including Rod & Custom, Hot Rod and others.
