5th Annual Librari-Con Anime, Comic Convention on Sept. 3 By Melissa Lang Assistant Youth Services Coordinator Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center the characters, and the artwork. It takes creativity and effort to be a fan and, at the public library, we like to celebrate that. Welcome to Librari- Con 2011! friendly anime and comic mini-convention on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Teenagers (and fans of all ages) are invited to converge for a full day of anime viewing, panel presentations, writing and drawing workshops, a CosPlay Runway, and hands-on activities. Local artists in the Artist's Alley will be selling artwork, plush handmade M Gvihv 8 Saturday September 3 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Librari-Con 2011 "Libby" artwork created by Brad Talton. Members of the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, an international Star Wars costuming group and charitable organization, return once again to recruit for the Empire. Guests are participate in the CosPlay Runway (guidelines and weapon policy available on our website). Have little ones? Bring them to the Chibi Corner (Children's Area) for fun origami, coloring pages, or just to read a story. Chibi's who need a costume can visit the Hero-Making Station for instant superhero accessories. Cape? Check. Flashy-super-strength bracelets? Double- check. Villain-intimidating symbol? Got it. One mini-superhero, ready- to-go. aybe you spend hours poring over the books and videos, appreciating the storylines, Special guests this year include local artist Danny Hirajeta, and Gabriel Dunston, creator of the webcomic "Funny Thing Happened Today." At each presentation, residents will be invited to share their ideas, concerns, and visions for the future of the Hope Mills community. Please plan to attend one of the following meetings.
