Page 5 H H H Sigma kappa IN MEMORIAM Elinor Watson Kraft '51 passed away May 14, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Kay McKay. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George, and her four children: Karen (Dan) Conyers of Kansas City, Kansas; John (Elisabeth Monaco) of Gaithersburg, Maryland; Bruce (Jean Leach) of Fairfax, Virginia; and Denise Rehmann of Evesham, New Jersey. She leaves eight grandchildren and her brother-in-law, William P. McKay. Linda Horton Spencer '60 passed away on December 24, 2013. Linda was a resident of Corolla, N.C. ALUMNAE NEWS Allane West Corcoran '50 moved to a retirement home but stays busy by helping others. She lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. Linda Richards Stoker '69 is proud of her youngest son, Will, who is a sophomore at KU studying film. She lives in Shawnee Mission, Kan., and is the director of family ministry at Lenexa United Methodist. They spent the July 4 weekend at the Hotel Josephine in the same suite President Grover Cleveland once stayed in. It is a bed and breakfast now, furnished in the Victorian‑era style. "It was a little like living in an elegant dollhouse," Constance writes. The hotel is located in Holton, Kan. Constance and Dewayne live in Topeka and "hope (our) honeymoon never ends." Julie Stein Reed '84 and her husband, Kevin, celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in May. They have two teenage children, Kendall and Madison. "We spend our time trying to keep up with our children," Julie writes. The family resides in Eastborough, Kan. E-mail: jkreed@cox.net Pamela Croyle Weinhold, M.D. '85 is still working at KU Med West, stamping out disease, and married to her husband, Frank. She remains best friends with Shannon Parker '85, her Sigma Kappa senior roommate. Her oldest son is a freshman at Kansas State University. Her youngest son is in 10th grade. "It is a great life," Pamela writes. "Best wishes to all my Sigma Kappa sisters." Pamela resides in De Soto, Kan. Laura McKee Sweet '88 completed her master's degree at the University of Nebraska in 2011 and was recruited to Des Moines Performing Arts in 2012, where she is the vice president and COO. She also served as a board member of Children & Families of Iowa. She and her husband, Mike, have three children: Mary Clare, Chloe, and Cecily. During that time, she spent summers working in Bordeaux, France, as the foreman of a sailboat being built, as well as in Jindabyne, Australia, as a ski instructor. After working in Colorado, she moved back to her hometown of Chicago, Ill., where she worked as an event planner for a non-profit. In February 2013, she married the love of her life, Peter. The couple has one son, Owen, and Jamie is now a stay-at-home mom. Elizabeth Wristen Wakeman '96 gave birth to a daughter, Georgia LeAnn, on October 8, 2013. She joins her big brothers, Luke (8) and Emerson (4). Following the birth of Georgia, Liz retired from her job as an RN in the hematology‑oncology unit at KU Med to stay home. Her maid of honor was Ashlea Orrell '05, and Chef Dennis Hill catered her wedding shower. Amanda writes, "His coconut chicken is still my favorite meal." Amanda is a vice president of alumni relations at Pennington & Company. She and Damon make their home in Lawrence.
