C
onstruction is complete, and the result is absolutely
spectacular. The expanded and renovated Sigma Kappa
chapter house is the talk of campus, and we celebrated and
dedicated our renovated home on September 27. Seeing is
definitely believing. Numerous alumnae, family, and
friends attended the ribbon cutting and were over-
whelmed at the design, quality, and scope of the
renovations. More of our loyal alumnae made
financial commitments on the spot, wanting
very much to be a part of the success of this
project.
We began work in May, and watching the
progress as the months went on was impressive.
We've been lucky to be on many e-mails
throughout the past year with photo updates and lots
of excitement. We're ever grateful to all those who have
been involved and put a lot of time, sweat, and energy into
this project. Many sisters have spent countless hours away
from their families in order to make these renovations a
reality. To you we say a huge thank-you!
The weeks leading up to the collegians moving in were filled
with much work and the pressure was unrelenting. But sure
enough, by early August as our sisters were returning to school,
it somehow all came together. The most gratifying moments
were the looks on the faces of the collegians and their parents as
they moved in. What they left in May and returned to in August
were two different worlds.
After our first fall formal recruitment in our renovated chapter
house, we are so thrilled to report that we had one of the best
results in recent memory. We received 66 new members this fall!
We have listened to your concerns and delivered an outstanding
living/learning facility for the women of Xi Chapter.
This project was a labor of love, with an emphasis on labor.
We're proud of the architects and contractors who utilized
numerous details that are unique to Sigma Kappa. By the time
of the ribbon cutting in September, the payoff was evident. The
collegians have done a great job taking care of things and have
a distinctive sense of pride in their new home.
