7 Alpha Chi Omega CHAPTER ETERNAL Betty Bischoff Houston '44 entered Chapter Eternal Sunday, April 13, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her family. They include Robert Houston, whom she married on July 1, 1977; three children: Tammy, Robert (Connie), and Tracy (Ben); and four grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Jaiden, and Kaylee. She attended Springfield First Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and bowling. Betty was employed from 1968 to 2011 with the State of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Janet Mash Ruggeri '57 entered Chapter Eternal on March 6, 2012. She was a beloved wife of 49 years to Donald Ruggeri; loving mother of Susan (John) Rose, David (Karen) Ruggeri, and Robert (Kimberly) Ruggeri; dear grandmother of Sarah, Olivia, Jackson, Julia, Dominic, Donato, Matteo, Lorenzo, and Benjamin; dear cousin, aunt, sister-in-law, godmother, and friend to many. Janet was owner of Jan's Hallmark in Central Plaza in Ballwin for 18 years until her retirement in 2000. Jane Juracek Reherman '64 entered Chapter Eternal on May 2 at age 70 surrounded by family. Jane was the first female on-air news personality in Cincinnati for WLW-T, the first female business editor of a metropolitan newspaper while at the Cincinnati Post, and manager of community affairs for GE Aircraft Engines. Janis Fahrenkrog Price '66 entered Chapter Eternal Thursday, November 21, 2013. While in college she met the love of her life, Richard Price. They married soon after graduation in 1969, and thereafter moved to Bamberg, Germany, where Richard proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Janis was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first. She spent countless hours supporting her children in all their endeavors. She enjoyed playing tennis and bowling, worked tirelessly in her extensive flower gardens, loved to spend time with her golden retrievers, and actively competed in dog confirmation and agility trials where she achieved numerous CPE and AKC titles. Janis is survived by her sons, Rick (Rebecca), Mike (Tina), and Brad (Courtney); grandchildren, Audrey, Aaron, and Hallie, with another grandson on the way; brother Don (Maria) Fahrenkrog; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. ALUMNAE NEWS Alice Smith Johnson '62 reports her husband, Denis, received a Fulbright grant that took them to Brussels, Belgium, in 1972, leading to a permanent position as a particle physicist researcher and university professor. They had three children, and Alice worked in the State of Illinois Foreign Office in Brussels. Patchwork became a passion for her. One of her quilts won the European Quilts Awards at the International Quilt Expo in Innsbruck, Switzerland, in 1998. Denis passed away in 2007.
