Liu describes her work: I began drawing as soon as I was old enough to hold a pencil, but external factors choked off the waters of creativi- ty, leaving the art-seed within me parched and dormant. After being uprooted from Mainland China and drifting a few years in Switzerland, I have lived in San Francisco for ten years. Several years ago, I abandoned the ship of corporate employment and jumped on a small boat for an adventurous bumpy ride. Self taught in painting, photography and design, I often focus on the inter- play between cultures in my artwork. My hope is that through the universal lan- guage of art, I can reach out across the boundaries of culture and country to share my experiences and perspective.
