My sisters and I were left to run wild in the hills and we were given every opportunity to be successful. Marin is also a wonderful place to be in business. The residents are educated, well to do, and politically engaged. I'm thankful to the community for my personal and business success, and so I feel the need to give back. I've been active in Rotary, Chambers of Commerce, Lions club, and the public school districts to name a few. Every summer I hire a teen and give them their first job. Right now I have a high school student (female) intern, who wants to work in the automotive industry. This has been a good year for me, because Bertolli's was awarded the Small Business of the Year from the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce and Bertolli's made it on the San Francisco Business Times top 100 Woman Owned Businesses list in the Bay Area. My passion is for women's issues, from domestic abuse to single parenthood, to business ownership. I support women in business through the San Rafael Chamber's Women of Industry event coming up November 18th and through the 180 member group, Women Owned Marin Businesses (WOMB).
