Mendoza works with all types of hair, but says even women with thin hair benefit from more frequent style appointments. Professional styling allows longer intervals between washes. Temporary hair extensions can be used to create optimal volume, lift and texture. Some hair textures and up-dos take a bit longer, but Mendoza says most blow-out clients are out the door in 45 minutes from wash to finish. In addition to seasonal color adjustments for fall and winter, she encourag- es women to use blow-out services more often during the holidays. "It gives busy wom- en and women who travel relaxing breaks in their hectic schedules and they feel better with great looking hair," Mendoza points out. Cyndi Havard, owner of The Style Bar in Greenbrae and Petaluma has been a stylist for 20 years and also owns Sproos, a full-service salon in San Anselmo. The Style Bar clients can also book for services on- and off-site for photo shoots and special events. Her stylists prefer to salon wash the hair they style for better control and longer-lasting results. "Clients always wish their hair could look like they just stepped out of the salon but that's difficult to do yourself," she says. Quick access to a chair has appeal to many clients, but if you prefer a specific stylist, Havard recommends booking online or calling at least four hours ahead. Some blow-out salons are training grounds for newer stylists who are closely supervised while building their skills and clientele.
