Always Alpha Phi 2 Omicron said goodbye to the 52 members of our senior class. Having a senior photo shoot in front of the columns has become a sweet chapter tradition. Sadly, seven sisters weren't able to be present for the picture. Strong End to the Year It was a wonderful end to a successful year when Alpha Phi placed fifth overall in Greek Week with the men of Phi Kappa Theta and Alpha Gamma Sigma. Additionally, in May our largest senior class in recent history graduated. We thank these new alumnae for the positive impact they had on our chapter and wish them the best as they start a new chapter of their lives. Representing Omicron at Convention At the end of June, I traveled to Palm Springs, California, for the Alpha Phi Convention. I met women representing Alpha Phi chapters from across the United States and Canada and was encouraged by the number of alumnae in attendance—their dedication remains strong long after their collegiate membership. I was proud to see our finance advisor, Nancy Manning Holman '80, recognized with the Michaelanean Award for her hard work, continuous support, and strong dedication to Omicron. I've served on the executive board for two years and can say with confidence that Omicron has been fortunate to have Nancy's assistance and guidance, whether it pertained to the chapter's finances or not. I cannot think of a more deserving individual for this award. We celebrated the election of a new International Board while recognizing the board members who completed their term, including our very own Amy Jordan Tvrdik '87 and Val Lawlor '71. It is wonderful to see Omicron represented so well at the international level. Amy and Val's commitment to Omicron and the Fraternity as a whole is inspiring. Find Us Online This summer Omicron's recruitment team prepared for another record-breaking fall recruitment. In an effort to improve our overall marketing and branding before recruitment, Vice President of Marketing Chandler Davis '12 and Amber Smith '12 gave Omicron a renovated website. Check it out at www.mizzouaphi.com. We frequently update our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr page. Take a look at all of our social media and keep up with Omicron! Professional Development Opportunity In August, Kaitlyn Skubic '12 and I attended the Alpha Phi Fellows Program in Chicago. With support from the Alpha Phi Foundation, this professional development opportunity gives collegiate members, particularly upperclassmen, helpful training to better prepare us as strong female leaders in the work force. Kaitlyn and I were honored to have this opportunity and are thankful that Alpha Phi is offering this continuous education experience to collegiate members preparing for their careers. Welcome the Class of 2018 We welcomed 91 New Members—with an average 3.46 G.P.A.! We look forward to giving updates as the school year progresses. Loyally, Shelby L. Fuchs '11 Chapter President slfng4@mail.missouri.edu Undergraduates Strengthen Omicron Chapter Alpha Phi was paired with the men of Phi Kappa Theta and Alpha Gamma Sigma for Greek Week and took fifth place overall. Helping achieve that top-five finish was our basketball team, which placed first and included Gabby Martinez '13, Kaitlyn Hartness '13, Savannah Wittenbrink '13, Jessie Corbin '14, Erin Bommersback '12, Kate McHugh '11, and Jackie Elkin '12. Imagine was the theme of this summer's Alpha Phi Convention at Rancho Las Palmas in Palm Springs, California. Omicrons attending were Amanda Hoffman '06, Kate Hendley Wood '80 (new house corporation president), Nancy Manring Holman '80 (recognized with the Michaelanean Award for her volunteer service), Margaret Knights Hultsch '51, Kaitlin Loukides '08, Amy Jordan Tvrdik '87, Val Lawlor '71, Billie Coskey Battiato '71, Chapter Advisor Carrie Moreland Reid '01, and Chapter President Shelby Fuchs '11.
