But unfortunately, I will not be able to really enjoy the delicacies of the evening. e reason is because I am on the HCG diet and as I pen this article I have lost 15 pounds and hopefully will be down an- other 15 pounds by the party. So when you see me, I am not sick, I am just on a 500-calorie-per-day diet. Now the first question all of my friends ask is "How can you survive on so few calories per day?" at was my exact question aer I started investigat- ing the diet. I knew several people who had done it and they all claimed that during the large major- ity of the diet they were not hungry. I can testify to that fact. I was hungry the first day, but the doctors said it would take a few days for the HCG hormone to kick in. I am not going to explain the technical stuff, but so far…it works. When I don't exercise I can just look at food and gain weight. I fell off my exer- cise routine about a year and a half ago and as a result, I have gained 35 pounds. My goal is to get back to my best weight in my exercise days. at will take a loss of 54 pounds. e diet is said to have an average of one-pound loss per day for 40 days. So, when I'm in the transition period three weeks aer the diet, I hope to lose an- other 14 pounds. When I start working out again, that will take about two months. I turned 65 in July and recognize I am in the fourth quarter of life, the Lord willing. erefore I need to get this weight off and keep it off for the rest of my life. My doctor, Steve Logue, was funny when he gave me this truism: "You are blessed with great genes from God and you are fortunate you have not suffered the con- sequences of your bad behavior" (eating too much and not exercising). I will not forget that and it has motivated me. See you at the party!
