Among the five inductees in the Class of 2014 is Angie Weir Miller. Miller played all four years on the Lady Spartans varsity basket- ball team. In 1987 the team won a state championship with Miller picking up individual state and national honors along the way. She was an honorable mention All-American in 1987 by Street & Smith Magazine. Also that year Miller was named Cal-Hi Sports Magazine Division II Girls Basketball Player of the Year as well as the Northern Section's Most Valuable Player. Miller was also a two-time Cal- Hi Sports Magazine Division II Girls Basketball All-State First Teamer, All-Northern Section team, Northern Athletic League Most Valuable Player and Red Bluff Lady Spartans Most Valu- able Player. Despite playing before the 3-point line, Miller still holds Red Bluff High School's career scoring re- cord with 1,528 points. Her single game records of 39 points and 23 re- bounds set in 1987 are still standing as well. Miller averaged 23 points per game her junior year and 22 points and 15 rebounds her se- nior year. She received a full-ride basket- ball scholarship to Washington State University. She became a starter in her third game as a freshman and was named to the Pac-10 All- Freshmen Team in 1988. In 1990 she was named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Team. She would also land on the Pac- 10 All-Decade Team of the 1990s. She picked up a Pac-10 Player of the Week award in 1990 and was her team's most valuable player her sophomore and junior years. Miller was 41 points away from becoming Washington State's sec- ond-leading all-time scorer, but she blew her knee out her senior year and missed two-thirds of the season. She still ranks fourth in school history. She was fifth in scoring in the Pac-10 in her sophomore year with a 17.8 points per game aver- age and ranked first in free throw percentage her sophomore year at 84 percent. Miller passed on offers to play professionally overseas, but stayed in basketball to become a coach. She had Division I jobs at Washington State, Gonzaga Uni- versity, University of Idaho and Sacramento State. She also coached locally at Butte College and West Valley High School. Miller moved back to Red Bluff in 2001 and continues to coach youth basketball.
