While her undergraduate experience with the Tau Chapter was unforgettable, she says her "alumna experience with ADP has been incredible." Sara didn't hold any officer positions in the chapter as an undergraduate, but she was a recruitment counselor and later the head recruitment counselor during her senior year. These recruitment experiences helped her find her career path and inspired her to stay active with Alpha Delta Pi as an alumna. "I love talking to people and selling something that is important to me. ADP provides great training in communication skills, recruitment, and networking." Sara has worked at KU and UMKC in various positions in admissions and recruitment and now works at JCCC doing outreach for a health information systems program. Sara feels extremely proud to be a member of Tau Chapter. "We are a 102-year-old chapter and one of only 17 active single-letter ADP chapters. We have a rich history at KU and a legacy of involved, active, and engaged sisters." Her pride has influenced her to stay very involved with the chapter as an alumna. After graduation, Sara was contacted by Martha Steele, Southern Methodist University '76, to become an advisor. Serving as advisor was just the beginning. Not only can Sara now count Martha as a role model and mentor, but she been advising for 11 years, which has allowed her to keep up with the Tau women and their accomplishments. She started as standards advisor at the Delta Phi Chapter at UMKC, spent three years as the Tau recruitment advisor, and is now in her fourth year as chapter advisor at Delta Phi. She has served on the Tau 100 committee, the Tau campaign committee, met Tau women at the District Leadership Conference in Tulsa and at conventions, and been a guest speaker at the chapter house on various occasions. Her continued involvement with ADP allows Sara to reminisce on her own memories of Tau Chapter. Her favorite memories include the simple things Sara (second from left) with Martha Steele, Southern Methodist University '76, and two Delta Phi collegians at the ADP convention in Dallas in June 2013.
