p. 3 SIGMA PHI EPSILON ACTIVE CHAPTER PROUD OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS T he men of Texas Alpha SigEp welcome everyone back to another fall semester at the University of Texas at Austin. This summer we saw tremendous success with recruitment and we're looking forward to beginning a new school year with the degree of excellence expected of us. TEXAS ALPHA WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS This past summer was a resounding success for the Texas Alpha Chapter of SigEp. Our recruitment team, led by Taylor Epperson '16, selected a new member class of 53 men to become Texas Alpha brothers in the coming year. Selection was difficult and trying at times, but we're confident that this incoming class is the finest group of men arriving this year at the University of Texas. NEW EVENTS FOSTER BROTHERHOOD BONDING During the spring semester, active member involvement was at an all-time high due to a number of initiatives brought forth by some of our brothers. Andrew Einspanier '15 took it upon himself to organize a basketball league exclusive for the men of Texas Alpha. A total of 13 teams of six participated in the league, which proved to be fiercely competitive. Logan Klasson '15 also planned a chapter-wide fly-fishing trip early in the spring semester. Though the weather was cold and the fishing difficult, it was a great weekend getaway for the chapter at large. Already talk for a new basketball league has begun and plans for a coastal fishing trip are on the table. CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT As is tradition, SigEp has a number of outstanding individuals serving in a number of prestigious student organizations. Brian Buell '16 and Preston Martin '16 were selected to join the ranks of Texas Cowboys, while Corey Fruithandler '16 and Brooks Beckelman '16 were chosen for membership in the Silver Spurs. PHILANTHROPY In the spring SigEp held its annual charity dodge ball tournament, which raised a grand total of over $4,600. The money was given to the 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation—a charity devoted to supporting the fight against Ewing's Sarcoma. The men of Texas Alpha SigEp are proud of their success in recruitment, philanthropy and leadership roles. However, we know none of it would be possible without the help of our generous alumni. Thanks to your continued support as leaders and role models, Texas Alpha continues to be one of the elite campus organizations at the University of Texas. Now that the football season is upon us, please feel free to come by the house for one of our tailgates. Don't forget that you are always welcome at Texas Alpha. HFF, Maclean Martin '15 Chapter President macleanmartin@gmail.com The chapter raised $4,600 for the 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation through their dodge ball tournament.
