12 | September/October • 2014 & editors corner facebook.com/cityviewnc T ime flies when you are having fun. Aer four years as your Features Editor, it is with mixed emotions that I put away my CityView editor's pen. Like my favorite candy bar, dark chocolate with caramel and sea salt, saying goodbye is salty and sweet. Aer bringing you 38 issues of CityView, launch- ing and steering seven CityView Family issues, all the way back to Accents, Engage, Fayetteville's Finest and a few special projects along the journey – it has been a labor of love highlighting all the great people, places, events and delicious things our city has to offer. I'm moving on to do "the Lord's work" and I don't mean tactical police opera- tions. Many of you know I've taken on the role as director for e Fayetteville Dream Center. is position incorporates my love for the people in our community and ad- vocating for those without a voice. As a writer, it is rewarding telling other's stories. In this new season I look forward to walking beside and encouraging many to start writing a new chapter in their own lives. Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, thank you for the years of kind words, opening your homes, businesses and aircra doors – it was a privilege to highlight your stories. I'll continue to further my writing through grant writing that can benefit others. I look forward more exciting things to come for CityView with Miriam at the helm. She has a zest for Fayetteville and many great ideas. So, it's not "goodbye", but rather, "see you around!" A lthough this is the Arts & Technology issue, it might as well have a dual theme with e Arts Council's 36th An- nual International Folk Festival. e festival is sure to be a fun-filled weekend for all with locals rep- resenting countries and cultures from across the globe with their flavors, costumes, customs and also, musical performances. I am probably the most excited about Ma- laysian superstar and singer/songwriter, Yuna who is performing at Festival Park on Saturday. She is poised to make a stellar American debut with powerhouses like Pharrell Williams producing her tracks. Fingers crossed that CityView is granted an interview with her! We can thank e Arts Council's partnership with Fayetteville State University for bringing this talented artist to our city. We have an assortment of stories in this issue ranging from Cybersecurity pro- grams in our city to top apps for iPhone or Android to what costumes will be gracing the stage during dance performances at the IFF. Lastly, we bid a farewell to our longtime Features Editor, Kelly Twedell. Kelly, thank you for being an encouraging and motivating supporter to me throughout my tenure here and also for being my friend. Your work and passion with Manna Church and the Fayetteville Dream Center are inspiring and the good you do in so many lives is seen and imitated by so many. But as you said, it's not goodbye…it's definitely see you later! ank you for everything and the impact you have made in my life and also here at CityView. Art & Technology
