3 Sigma Kappa Sisters Reconnect Sisters Reconnect at Alumnae Events A s I reflect on the "Violet Bubble" of the 86th National Convention, I am reminded of just how incredible our sisters are, both Beta Taus and Sigma Kappa nationally. We are women who have recently started new companies, moved to new cities, married and started families, retired, joined the military, competed in major competitions, held a first grandchild… you name it! Beta Taus are doing big things and proving that it really is Our Time to Shine! We would love to hear what new and exciting things are happening in your life as well. Send any news to btcorporation@gmail.com. Chapter Celebrates 65 Years This April Beta Tau had a very special occasion to shine about. Our chapter celebrated our 65th anniversary during the spring alumnae weekend. It was fun to see our sisters' competitive sides during trivia, and some of the creative ideas they came up with for songs and pictures were absolutely hilarious. We also had the honor and privilege of pinning our alumnae who have been initiated for 25+ and 50+ years. Martha Potts Pace '57 set the record for those in attendance. She has been initiated for 57 years! You can read more about Martha's involvement with Sigma Kappa on page 2. Alumnae Sleepover This summer, many alumnae got together for a sleepover at the chapter house. We enjoyed massages, had a surprise candlelighting for London Van Houten Cromwell '09, and relaxed while catching up and reminiscing. Some of our sisters from FAU and FIU were able to join us for our pajama party as well. They were excited to finally get to sleep in a sorority house, since neither of their chapters have one. What a fantastic reminder of how fortunate we are to have a chapter house to call our home! Save the Date Get ready for Gator football season and the Beta Tau Homecoming tailgate. Plan on stopping by our setup at the Plaza of the Americas on October 18 for the Homecoming football game against Missouri. Hope to see you there! Dove Love, Carly Van Ostrand Autrey '05 Vice President, Beta Tau Chapter of Sigma Kappa Housing Corporation Chapter Prepares for Fall Recruitment Members Encourage Alumnae to Attend Upcoming Events B eta Tau is grateful to our alumnae for your ongoing support and involvement in the life of our chapter. It was so nice meeting those who attended the Sigma Kappa sleepover in July. Fall recruitment activities are well underway. If you know any potential new members, please e-mail vpmsigmakappa@gmail.com or fill out a recommendation form at www.sigmakappauf.com. We have several upcoming events that we welcome alumnae to attend, including the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday, October 25, and Founder's Day on Sunday, November 16. The Founder's Day celebration will begin at 11 a.m. at the Sweetwater Branch Inn in downtown Gainesville. We look forward to seeing you there. In Sigma, Alexia Marchetti '12 Vice President Alumnae Relations Beta Tau Executive Board
