The Campaign for Florida Alpha TODAY'S CHAPTER • 143 members • 3.269 G.P.A. – Fall 2011 • Third in President's Cup Orange Division • 2012-13 Student Body President • 2011 Gator Growl Producer • 20 members inducted into Blue Key over the last five years • Surf Frenzy remains the largest and most attended fraternal philanthropy on campus (over 2,000 in attendance and $24,800 raised during 2012) Florida Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon 5 Fraternity Row Gainesville, FL 32603 Dear SigEp Alumni: Congratulations on Sigma Phi Epsilon's decision to once again act as a leader of the Florida Greek community by initiating plans to renovate 5 Fraternity Row. Since 1925, Florida Alpha alumni and undergraduate members have been known for their campus leadership and dedi- cation to the University of Florida. Your 55-year-old facility is in dire need of repair to its in- frastructure and does not meet the needs of today's students. The plan developed will allow Sigma Phi Epsilon to provide a safe and competitive facility that reflects the pride we have in our Greek community and the University of Florida. The Greek system is alive and well at the University of Florida and Sigma Phi Epsilon is lead- ing the way. The Residential Learning Community concept will further the University's effort to facilitate an environment of growth both academically and socially. Your efforts should be applauded and the University of Florida supports all student organizations that build character and develop leadership. I am pleased to see the commitment Sigma Phi Epsilon has made to provide a safe and attrac- tive living environment for its brothers and new members. It is important that all fraternities provide safe and desirable housing for their active members. Today's students require appro- priate space and technology to support their complex lifestyles and dynamic academic needs. I applaud the launching of a capital campaign for the chapter and wish you much success in achieving the goals for the campaign. I hope the alumni of Sigma Phi Epsilon will respond to the capital campaign with a degree of generosity that reflects an appreciation for what the fra- ternity and the University of Florida have done for them and a desire to see the chapter be a positive factor in the lives of young men for generations to come. I wish you the best of luck in this effort, and I look forward to visiting the finished product. Sincerely, J. Bernard Machen
